1 After these things, Jesus went away to the other side of the sea of Galilee, which is also called the Sea of Tiberias.
2 A great multitude followed him, because they saw his signs which he did on those who were sick.
3 Jesus went up into the mountain, and he sat there with his disciples.
4 ην δε εγγυσ το πασχα η εορτη των ιουδαιων 4 Y estaba cerca la Pascua, la fiesta de los Judíos.
4 Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand.
5 Jesus therefore, lifting up his eyes and seeing that a great multitude was coming to him, said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, that these may eat?”
6 He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do.
7 απεκριθη αυτω φιλιπποσ διακοσιων δηναριων αρτοι ουκ αρκουσιν αυτοισ ινα εκαστοσ αυτων βραχυ τι λαβη 7 Respondióle Felipe: Doscientos denarios de pan no les bastarán, para que cada uno de ellos tome un poco.
7 Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may receive a little.”
8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him,
9 “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these among so many?”
10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in that place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11 Jesus took the loaves, and having given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were sitting down, likewise also of the fish as much as they desired.
12 ωσ δε ενεπλησθησαν λεγει τοισ μαθηταισ αυτου συναγαγετε τα περισσευσαντα κλασματα ινα μη τι αποληται 12 Y como fueron saciados, dijo á sus discípulos: Recoged los pedazos que han quedado, porque no se pierda nada.
12 When they were filled, he said to his disciples, “Gather up the broken pieces which are left over, that nothing be lost.”
13 So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten.
14 When therefore the people saw the sign which Jesus did, they said, “This is truly the prophet who comes into the world.”
15 Jesus therefore, perceiving that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, withdrew again to the mountain by himself.
16 ωσ δε οψια εγενετο κατεβησαν οι μαθηται αυτου επι την θαλασσαν 16 Y como se hizo tarde, descendieron sus discípulos á la mar;
16 When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea.
17 They entered into the boat, and were going over the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus had not come to them.
18 η τε θαλασσα ανεμου μεγαλου πνεοντοσ διηγειρετο 18 Y levantábase la mar con un gran viento que soplaba.
18 The sea was tossed by a great wind blowing.
19 When therefore they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty stadia, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near to the boat; and they were afraid.
20 ο δε λεγει αυτοισ εγω ειμι μη φοβεισθε 20 Mas él les dijo: Yo soy; no tengáis miedo.
20 But he said to them, “It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
21 They were willing therefore to receive him into the boat. Immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.
22 τη επαυριον ο οχλοσ ο εστηκωσ περαν τησ θαλασσησ ιδων οτι πλοιαριον αλλο ουκ ην εκει ει μη εν εκεινο εισ ο ενεβησαν οι μαθηται αυτου και οτι ου συνεισηλθεν τοισ μαθηταισ αυτου ο ιησουσ εισ το πλοιαριον αλλα μονοι οι μαθηται αυτου απηλθον 22 El día siguiente, la gente que estaba de la otra parte de la mar, como vió que no había allí otra navecilla sino una, y que Jesús no había entrado con sus discípulos en ella, sino que sus discípulos se habían ido solos;
22 On the next day, the multitude that stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, except the one in which his disciples had embarked, and that Jesus hadn’t entered with his disciples into the boat, but his disciples had gone away alone.
23 αλλα δε ηλθεν πλοιαρια εκ τιβεριαδοσ εγγυσ του τοπου οπου εφαγον τον αρτον ευχαριστησαντοσ του κυριου 23 Y que otras navecillas habían arribado de Tiberias junto al lugar donde habían comido el pan después de haber el Señor dado gracias;
23 However, boats from Tiberias came near to the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks.
24 οτε ουν ειδεν ο οχλοσ οτι ιησουσ ουκ εστιν εκει ουδε οι μαθηται αυτου ενεβησαν αυτοι εισ τα πλοια και ηλθον εισ καπερναουμ ζητουντεσ τον ιησουν 24 Como vió pues la gente que Jesús no estaba allí, ni sus discípulos, entraron ellos en las navecillas, y vinieron á Capernaum buscando á Jesús.
24 When the multitude therefore saw that Jesus wasn’t there, nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.
25 When they found him on the other side of the sea, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?”
26 απεκριθη αυτοισ ο ιησουσ και ειπεν αμην αμην λεγω υμιν ζητειτε με ουχ οτι ειδετε σημεια αλλ οτι εφαγετε εκ των αρτων και εχορτασθητε 26 Respondióles Jesús, y dijo: De cierto, de cierto os digo, que me buscáis, no porque habéis visto las señales, sino porque comisteis el pan y os hartasteis.
26 Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.
27 εργαζεσθε μη την βρωσιν την απολλυμενην αλλα την βρωσιν την μενουσαν εισ ζωην αιωνιον ην ο υιοσ του ανθρωπου υμιν δωσει τουτον γαρ ο πατηρ εσφραγισεν ο θεοσ 27 Trabajad no por la comida que perece, mas por la comida que á vida eterna permanece, la cual el Hijo del hombre os dará: porque á éste señaló el Padre, [que es] Dios.
27 Don’t work for the food which perishes, but for the food which remains to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has sealed him.”
28 They said therefore to him, “What must we do, that we may work the works of God?”
29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”
¿Qué obras?
30 They said therefore to him, “What then do you do for a sign, that we may see and believe you? What work do you do?
31 Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness. As it is written, ‘He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.’”
32 ειπεν ουν αυτοισ ο ιησουσ αμην αμην λεγω υμιν ου μωσησ δεδωκεν υμιν τον αρτον εκ του ουρανου αλλ ο πατηρ μου διδωσιν υμιν τον αρτον εκ του ουρανου τον αληθινον 32 Y Jesús les dijo: De cierto, de cierto os digo: No os dió Moisés pan del cielo; mas mi Padre os da el verdadero pan del cielo.
32 Jesus therefore said to them, “Most certainly, I tell you, it wasn’t Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven.
33 For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world.”
34 They said therefore to him, “Lord, always give us this bread.”
35 ειπεν δε αυτοισ ο ιησουσ εγω ειμι ο αρτοσ τησ ζωησ ο ερχομενοσ προσ με ου μη πειναση και ο πιστευων εισ εμε ου μη διψηση πωποτε 35 Y Jesús les dijo: Yo soy el pan de vida: el que á mí viene, nunca tendrá hambre; y el que en mí cree, no tendrá sed jamás.
35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will not be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
36 αλλ ειπον υμιν οτι και εωρακατε με και ου πιστευετε 36 Mas os he dicho, que aunque me habéis visto, no creéis.
36 But I told you that you have seen me, and yet you don’t believe.
37 παν ο διδωσιν μοι ο πατηρ προσ εμε ηξει και τον ερχομενον προσ με ου μη εκβαλω εξω 37 Todo lo que el Padre me da, vendrá á mí; y al que á mí viene, no [le] hecho fuera.
37 All those whom the Father gives me will come to me. He who comes to me I will in no way throw out.
38 οτι καταβεβηκα εκ του ουρανου ουχ ινα ποιω το θελημα το εμον αλλα το θελημα του πεμψαντοσ με 38 Porque he descendido del cielo, no para hacer mi voluntad, mas la voluntad del que me envió.
38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.
39 τουτο δε εστιν το θελημα του πεμψαντοσ με πατροσ ινα παν ο δεδωκεν μοι μη απολεσω εξ αυτου αλλα αναστησω αυτο τη εσχατη ημερα 39 Y esta es la voluntad del que me envió, del Padre: Que todo lo que me diere, no pierda de ello, sino que lo resucite en el día postrero.
39 This is the will of my Father who sent me, that of all he has given to me I should lose nothing, but should raise him up at the last day.
40 τουτο δε εστιν το θελημα του πεμψαντοσ με ινα πασ ο θεωρων τον υιον και πιστευων εισ αυτον εχη ζωην αιωνιον και αναστησω αυτον εγω τη εσχατη ημερα 40 Y esta es la voluntad del que me ha enviado: Que todo aquel que ve al Hijo, y cree en él, tenga vida eterna: y yo le resucitaré en el día postrero.
40 This is the will of the one who sent me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
41 The Jews therefore murmured concerning him, because he said, “I am the bread which came down out of heaven.”
42 και ελεγον ουχ ουτοσ εστιν ιησουσ ο υιοσ ιωσηφ ου ημεισ οιδαμεν τον πατερα και την μητερα πωσ ουν λεγει ουτοσ οτι εκ του ουρανου καταβεβηκα 42 Y decían: ¿No es éste Jesús, el hijo de José, cuyo padre y madre nosotros conocemos? ¿cómo, pues, dice éste: Del cielo he descendido?
42 They said, “Isn’t this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then does he say, ‘I have come down out of heaven’?”
43 απεκριθη ουν ο ιησουσ και ειπεν αυτοισ μη γογγυζετε μετ αλληλων 43 Y Jesús respondió, y díjoles: No murmuréis entre vosotros.
43 Therefore Jesus answered them, “Don’t murmur among yourselves.
44 ουδεισ δυναται ελθειν προσ με εαν μη ο πατηρ ο πεμψασ με ελκυση αυτον και εγω αναστησω αυτον εν τη εσχατη ημερα 44 Ninguno puede venir á mí, si el Padre que me envió no le trajere; y yo le resucitaré en el día postrero.
44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him; and I will raise him up in the last day.
45 It is written in the prophets, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who hears from the Father and has learned, comes to me.
46 ουχ οτι τον πατερα τισ εωρακεν ει μη ο ων παρα του θεου ουτοσ εωρακεν τον πατερα 46 No que alguno haya visto al Padre, sino aquel que vino de Dios, éste ha visto al Padre.
46 Not that anyone has seen the Father, except he who is from God. He has seen the Father.
47 Most certainly, I tell you, he who believes in me has eternal life.
48 εγω ειμι ο αρτοσ τησ ζωησ 48 Yo soy el pan de vida.
48 I am the bread of life.
49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and they died.
50 ουτοσ εστιν ο αρτοσ ο εκ του ουρανου καταβαινων ινα τισ εξ αυτου φαγη και μη αποθανη 50 Este es el pan que desciende del cielo, para que el que de él comiere, no muera.
50 This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, that anyone may eat of it and not die.
51 εγω ειμι ο αρτοσ ο ζων ο εκ του ουρανου καταβασ εαν τισ φαγη εκ τουτου του αρτου ζησεται εισ τον αιωνα και ο αρτοσ δε ον εγω δωσω η σαρξ μου εστιν ην εγω δωσω υπερ τησ του κοσμου ζωησ 51 Yo soy el pan vivo que he descendido del cielo: si alguno comiere de este pan, vivirá para siempre; y el pan que yo daré es mi carne, la cual yo daré por la vida del mundo.
51 I am the living bread which came down out of heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. Yes, the bread which I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”
52 The Jews therefore contended with one another, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”
53 ειπεν ουν αυτοισ ο ιησουσ αμην αμην λεγω υμιν εαν μη φαγητε την σαρκα του υιου του ανθρωπου και πιητε αυτου το αιμα ουκ εχετε ζωην εν εαυτοισ 53 Y Jesús les dijo: De cierto, de cierto os digo: Si no comiereis la carne del Hijo del hombre, y bebiereis su sangre, no tendréis vida en vosotros.
53 Jesus therefore said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you don’t have life in yourselves.
54 ο τρωγων μου την σαρκα και πινων μου το αιμα εχει ζωην αιωνιον και εγω αναστησω αυτον τη εσχατη ημερα 54 El que come mi carne y bebe mi sangre, tiene vida eterna: y yo le resucitaré en el día postrero.
54 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
55 For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
56 ο τρωγων μου την σαρκα και πινων μου το αιμα εν εμοι μενει καγω εν αυτω 56 El que come mi carne y bebe mi sangre, en mí permanece, y yo en él.
56 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I in him.
57 καθωσ απεστειλεν με ο ζων πατηρ καγω ζω δια τον πατερα και ο τρωγων με κακεινοσ ζησεται δι εμε 57 Como me envió el Padre viviente, y yo vivo por el Padre, asimismo el que me come, él también vivirá por mí.
57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on me will also live because of me.
58 ουτοσ εστιν ο αρτοσ ο εκ του ουρανου καταβασ ου καθωσ εφαγον οι πατερεσ υμων το μαννα και απεθανον ο τρωγων τουτον τον αρτον ζησεται εισ τον αιωνα 58 Este es el pan que descendió del cielo: no como vuestros padres comieron el maná, y son muertos: el que come de este pan, vivirá eternamente.
58 This is the bread which came down out of heaven—not as our fathers ate the manna and died. He who eats this bread will live forever.”
59 ταυτα ειπεν εν συναγωγη διδασκων εν καπερναουμ 59 Estas cosas dijo en la sinagoga, enseñando en Capernaum.
59 He said these things in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
60 Therefore many of his disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying! Who can listen to it?”
61 But Jesus knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at this, said to them, “Does this cause you to stumble?
62 Then what if you would see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?
63 το πνευμα εστιν το ζωοποιουν η σαρξ ουκ ωφελει ουδεν τα ρηματα α εγω λαλω υμιν πνευμα εστιν και ζωη εστιν 63 El espíritu es el que da vida; la carne nada aprovecha: las palabras que yo os he hablado, son espíritu, y son vida.
63 It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.
64 But there are some of you who don’t believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who didn’t believe, and who it was who would betray him.
65 και ελεγεν δια τουτο ειρηκα υμιν οτι ουδεισ δυναται ελθειν προσ με εαν μη η δεδομενον αυτω εκ του πατροσ μου 65 Y dijo: Por eso os he dicho que ninguno puede venir á mí, si no le fuere dado del Padre.
65 He said, “For this cause I have said to you that no one can come to me, unless it is given to him by my Father.”
66 εκ τουτου πολλοι απηλθον των μαθητων αυτου εισ τα οπισω και ουκετι μετ αυτου περιεπατουν 66 Desde esto, muchos de sus discípulos volvieron atrás, y ya no andaban con él.
66 At this, many of his disciples went back and walked no more with him.
67 Jesus said therefore to the twelve, “You don’t also want to go away, do you?”
68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.
69 We have come to believe and know that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
70 απεκριθη αυτοισ ο ιησουσ ουκ εγω υμασ τουσ δωδεκα εξελεξαμην και εξ υμων εισ διαβολοσ εστιν 70 Jesús le respondió: ¿No he escogido yo á vosotros doce, y uno de vosotros es diablo?
70 Jesus answered them, “Didn’t I choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?”
71 Now he spoke of Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, for it was he who would betray him, being one of the twelve.
