PT1904 Texto Patriarcal 1904 (acentuado, edición de eBible)
1 My brothers, do not hold to faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with favoritism toward certain people.
1 My brothers, don’t hold the faith of our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with partiality.
2 Suppose that someone enters your meeting wearing gold rings and fine clothes, and there also enters a poor man in dirty clothes.
2 For if a man with a gold ring, in fine clothing, comes into your synagogue, and a poor man in filthy clothing also comes in,
3 If you look at the person wearing fine clothes and say, “You sit here in a good place,” but you say to the poor man, “You stand over there” or “Sit at my feet,”
3 and you pay special attention to him who wears the fine clothing and say, “Sit here in a good place;” and you tell the poor man, “Stand there,” or “Sit by my footstool”
4 are you not judging among yourselves? Have you not become judges with evil thoughts?
4 haven’t you shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?
4 καὶ οὐ διεκρίθητε ἐν ἑαυτοῖς καὶ ἐγένεσθε κριταὶ διαλογισμῶν πονηρῶν;
5 Listen, my beloved brothers, did not God choose the poor of the world to be rich in faith and to be heirs of the kingdom that he promised to those who love him?
5 Listen, my beloved brothers. Didn’t God choose those who are poor in this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the Kingdom which he promised to those who love him?
5 Ἀκούσατε, ἀδελφοί μου ἀγαπητοί. οὐχ ὁ Θεὸς ἐξελέξατο τοὺς πτωχοὺς τοῦ κόσμου πλουσίους ἐν πίστει καὶ κληρονόμους τῆς βασιλείας ἧς ἐπηγγείλατο τοῖς ἀγαπῶσιν αὐτόν;
6 But you have dishonored the poor! Is it not the rich who oppress you? Are they not the ones who drag you to court?
6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Don’t the rich oppress you and personally drag you before the courts?
6 ὑμεῖς δὲ ἠτιμάσατε τὸν πτωχόν. οὐχ οἱ πλούσιοι καταδυναστεύουσιν ὑμῶν, καὶ αὐτοὶ ἕλκουσιν ὑμᾶς εἰς κριτήρια;
7 Do they not insult the good name by which you have been called?
7 Don’t they blaspheme the honorable name by which you are called?
7 οὐκ αὐτοὶ βλασφημοῦσι τὸ καλὸν ὄνομα τὸ ἐπικληθὲν ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς;
8 If, however, you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well.
8 However, if you fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well.
9 But if you favor certain people, you are committing sin, and you are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.
9 But if you show partiality, you commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors.
10 For whoever obeys the whole law, except that he stumbles in just a single way, has become guilty of breaking the whole law.
10 For whoever keeps the whole law, and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.
11 For the one who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery, but if you do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker.
11 For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not commit murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.
12 So speak and act as those who will be judged by means of the law of freedom.
12 So speak and so do as men who are to be judged by the law of freedom.
13 For judgment comes without mercy to those who have shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
13 For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith, but he has no works? Can that faith save him?
14 What good is it, my brothers, if a man says he has faith, but has no works? Can faith save him?
14 Τί τὸ ὄφελος, ἀδελφοί μου, ἐὰν πίστιν λέγῃ τις ἔχειν, ἔργα δὲ μὴ ἔχῃ; μὴ δύναται ἡ πίστις σῶσαι αὐτόν;
15 Suppose that a brother or sister is badly clothed and lacks food for the day.
15 And if a brother or sister is naked and in lack of daily food,
16 Suppose that one of you says to them, “Go in peace, stay warm and be filled.” If you do not give them the things necessary for the body, what good is that?
16 and one of you tells them, “Go in peace. Be warmed and filled;” yet you didn’t give them the things the body needs, what good is it?
16 εἴπῃ δέ τις αὐτοῖς ἐξ ὑμῶν, ὑπάγετε ἐν εἰρήνῃ, θερμαίνεσθε καὶ χορτάζεσθε, μὴ δῶτε δὲ αὐτοῖς τὰ ἐπιτήδεια τοῦ σώματος, τί τὸ ὄφελος;
17 In the same way faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself.
18 Yet someone may say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
18 Yes, a man will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
19 You believe that there is one God; you do well. But even the demons believe that, and they tremble.
19 You believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe—and shudder.
20 Do you want to know, foolish man, that faith without works is useless?
20 But do you want to know, vain man, that faith apart from works is dead?
20 θέλεις δὲ γνῶναι, ὦ ἄνθρωπε κενέ, ὅτι ἡ πίστις χωρὶς τῶν ἔργων νεκρά ἐστιν;
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar?
21 Wasn’t Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son on the altar?
21 Ἀβραὰμ ὁ πατὴρ ἡμῶν οὐκ ἐξ ἔργων ἐδικαιώθη, ἀνενέγκας Ἰσαὰκ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον;
22 You see that faith worked with his works, and that by works his faith was fully developed.
22 You see that faith worked with his works, and by works faith was perfected.
23 The scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness,” and he was called a friend of God.
23 So the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness,” and he was called the friend of God.
24 You see that it is by works that a man is justified, and not only by faith.
24 You see then that by works a man is justified, and not only by faith.
25 In the same way also, was not Rahab the prostitute justified by works, when she welcomed the messengers and sent them away by another road?
25 In the same way, wasn’t Rahab the prostitute also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?
25 ὁμοίως δὲ καὶ Ῥαὰβ ἡ πόρνη οὐκ ἐξ ἔργων ἐδικαιώθη, ὑποδεξαμένη τοὺς ἀγγέλους καὶ ἑτέρᾳ ὁδῷ ἐκβαλοῦσα;
26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead.
26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead.

  1. Cita 2:23 Irenaeus of Lyons, Against Heresies (Book IV, Chapter IX)

    … by these things, but that they were given as a sign to the people, this fact shows,-- that Abraham himself, without circumcision and without observance of Sabbaths, "believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness; and he was called the friend of God." Then, again, Lot, without circumcision, was brought out from Sodom, receiving salvation from God.

  2. Cita 2:13 Augustine of Hippo, Confessions (Book IX, Chapter XIII)

    Forgive her, O Lord, forgive her, I beseech Thee; "enter not into judgment" with her. Let Thy mercy be exalted above Thy justice, because Thy words are true, and Thou hast promised mercy unto "the merciful;" which Thou gavest them to be who wilt "have mercy" on whom Thou wilt "have mercy," and wilt "have compassion" on whom Thou hast …

  3. Cita 2:23 Cyril of Jerusalem, Catechetical Lectures (Lecture V)

    He was justified not only by works, but also by faith: for though he did many things well, yet he was never called the friend of God, except when he believed.

  4. Cita 2:26 John of Damascus, An Exact Exposition of the Orthodox Faith (Book IV, Chapter IX)

    For faith apart from works is dead, and so likewise are works apart from faith.

  5. Cita 2:17 Augustine of Hippo, The City of God (Book XIX, Chapters 24–27)

    … the whole city of God in its pilgrim state, for it cries to God by the mouth of all its members, "Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors." And this prayer is efficacious not for those whose faith is "without works and dead," but for those whose faith "worketh by love." For as reason, though subjected to God, …
