Gideon, trembling and afraid, built an altar and named God 'The Lord is Peace.' Shalom means more than the absence of conflict; it is wholeness, well-being, everything set right. God does not merely give peace — He is our peace. To know this name is to find, in the middle of fear and disorder, a settledness that comes from God Himself.

O Lord who is my peace, I come like Gideon — often afraid and unsettled. You are not only the giver of peace but peace itself. Quiet the fear and disorder within me. Make me whole where I am fragmented, and settle my heart in You. Be my peace today, in the places that are anything but peaceful. Amen.
