'The Lord is my shepherd' may be the most beloved name of all. A shepherd leads, feeds, protects, and goes after the straying. To know God as Shepherd is to know we are not anonymous in a vast universe but personally known and tended, lacking nothing we truly need. We are not driven; we are led — by One who lays down His life for the sheep.

Lord, my Shepherd, thank You that I am personally known and tended by You. You lead me, feed me, and come after me when I stray. With You as my Shepherd, I lack nothing I truly need. Lead me today beside still waters; restore my soul; and help me to follow the voice of the One who laid down His life for me. Amen.
