6 Сы́нъ сла́витъ ѻ҆тца̀, и҆ ра́бъ господи́на своегѡ̀ ᲂу҆бои́тсѧ: и҆ а҆́ще ѻ҆ц҃ъ є҆́смь а҆́зъ, то̀ гдѣ̀ сла́ва моѧ̀; и҆ а҆́ще гдⷭ҇ь є҆́смь а҆́зъ, то̀ гдѣ̀ є҆́сть стра́хъ мо́й; гл҃етъ гдⷭ҇ь вседержи́тель. Вы̀ свѧще́нницы презира́ющїи и҆́мѧ моѐ. И҆ рѣ́сте: ѡ҆ чесо́мъ презрѣ́хомъ и҆́мѧ твоѐ;

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).

Since we can already see this sacrifice offered to God in every place, from the …
