WEB World English Bible (Classic, with Deuterocanon) 1 After this, the Lord appointed seventy other disciples, and sent them in pairs to every town and place that he planned to visit.
1 Now after these things, the Lord also appointed seventy others, and sent them two by two ahead of him into every city and place where he was about to come.
2 “The harvest is large, but the number of workers is small,” he told them. “Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send workers to his harvest fields. 2 Y les decía: La mies á la verdad es mucha, mas los obreros pocos; por tanto, rogad al Señor de la mies que envíe obreros á su mies.
2 Then he said to them, “The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore to the Lord of the harvest, that he may send out laborers into his harvest.
3 So get on your way: I'm sending you like sheep among wolves.
3 Go your ways. Behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves.
4 Don't take any money or a bag or extra sandals, and don't spend time chatting with people you meet.
4 Carry no purse, nor wallet, nor sandals. Greet no one on the way.
5 Whatever house you enter, first of all say, ‘May this house have peace.’ 5 En cualquiera casa donde entrareis, primeramente decid: Paz [sea] á esta casa.
5 Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house.’
6 If there's a peaceful person living there, then your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you.
6 If a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.
7 Stay in that house, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for a worker deserves to be paid. Don't go from house to house.
7 Remain in that same house, eating and drinking the things they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Don’t go from house to house.
8 If you enter a town and the people there welcome you, then eat what's set before you 8 Y en cualquier ciudad donde entrareis, y os recibieren, comed lo que os pusieren delante;
8 Into whatever city you enter and they receive you, eat the things that are set before you.
9 and heal those who are sick. Tell them, ‘God's kingdom has come to you.’ 9 Y sanad los enfermos que en ella hubiere, y decidles: Se ha llegado á vosotros el reino de Dios.
9 Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘God’s Kingdom has come near to you.’
10 But if you enter a town and the people there don't welcome you, go through their streets telling them, 10 Mas en cualquier ciudad donde entrareis, y no os recibieren, saliendo por sus calles, decid:
10 But into whatever city you enter and they don’t receive you, go out into its streets and say,
11 ‘We are wiping off even the dust from your town that clings to our feet to show you our disapproval. But you should recognize this: God's kingdom has come.’ 11 Aun el polvo que se nos ha pegado de vuestra ciudad á nuestros pies, sacudimos en vosotros: esto empero sabed, que el reino de los cielos se ha llegado á vosotros.
11 ‘Even the dust from your city that clings to us, we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that God’s Kingdom has come near to you.’
12 I tell you, in the Day of Judgment it will be better for Sodom than for such a town.
12 I tell you, it will be more tolerable in that day for Sodom than for that city.
13 Shame on you Korazin! Shame on you Bethsaida! For if the miracles you saw happen had happened in Tyre and Sidon they would have repented a long time ago, and they would be sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
13 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
14 That's why in the judgment it will be better for Tyre and Sidon than for you.
14 But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you.
15 And you, Capernaum, you won't be exalted to heaven; you will go down to Hades.
15 You, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades.
16 Anyone who hears you hears me, and anyone who rejects you rejects me. But anyone who rejects me rejects the one who sent me.” 16 El que á vosotros oye, á mí oye; y el que á vosotros desecha, á mí desecha; y el que á mí desecha, desecha al que me envió.
16 Whoever listens to you listens to me, and whoever rejects you rejects me. Whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.”
17 The seventy disciples returned in great excitement, saying, “Lord, even the demons do what we tell them in your name!” 17 Y volvieron los setenta con gozo, diciendo: Señor, aun los demonios se nos sujetan en tu nombre.
17 The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!”
18 Jesus replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 18 Y les dijo: Yo veía á Satanás, como un rayo, que caía del cielo.
18 He said to them, “I saw Satan having fallen like lightning from heaven.
19 Yes, I have given you power to tread on snakes and scorpions, and to overcome all the enemy's strength, and nothing will harm you.
19 Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you.
20 But don't take delight that the spirits do what you tell them—just be glad that your names are written in heaven.” 20 Mas no os gocéis de esto, que los espíritus se os sujetan; antes gozaos de que vuestros nombres están escritos en los cielos.
20 Nevertheless, don’t rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
21 At that moment Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and said, “I thank you Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for you hid these things from the wise and clever people and revealed them to children! Yes, Father, you were pleased to do it in this way. 21 En aquella misma hora Jesús se alegró en espíritu, y dijo: Yo te alabo, oh Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, que escondiste estas cosas á los sabios y entendidos, y las has revelado á los pequeños: así, Padre, porque así te agradó.
21 In that same hour, Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, “I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.”
22 My Father has handed over everything to me. No one understands the Son except the Father, and no one understands the Father except the Son, and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” 22 Todas las cosas me son entregadas de mi Padre: y nadie sabe quién sea el Hijo sino el Padre; ni quién sea el Padre, sino el Hijo, y á quien el Hijo [lo] quisiere revelar.
22 Turning to the disciples, he said, “All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is, except the Father, and who the Father is, except the Son, and he to whomever the Son desires to reveal him.”
23 When they were by themselves Jesus turned to the disciples and told them, “Those who see what you're seeing should be really happy! 23 Y vuelto particularmente á los discípulos, dijo: Bienaventurados los ojos que ven lo que vosotros veis:
23 Turning to the disciples, he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes which see the things that you see,
24 I tell you, many prophets and kings have wanted to see what you're seeing, but they didn't see, and wanted to hear the things you're hearing, but didn't hear.” 24 Porque os digo que muchos profetas y reyes desearon ver lo que vosotros veis, y no lo vieron; y oir lo que oís, y no lo oyeron.
24 for I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which you see, and didn’t see them, and to hear the things which you hear, and didn’t hear them.”
25 Once an expert in religious law stood up and tried to trap Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “What do I have to do to gain eternal life?” 25 Y he aquí, un doctor de la ley se levantó, tentándole y diciendo: Maestro, ¿haciendo qué cosa poseeré la vida eterna?
25 Behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
26 “What is written in the law? How do you read it?” asked Jesus.
26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you read it?”
27 “You shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart, and your whole spirit, and your whole strength, and your whole mind; and love your neighbor as yourself,” the man replied.
27 He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
28 “You're right,” Jesus told him. “Do this, and you will live.” 28 Y díjole: Bien has respondido: haz esto, y vivirás.
28 He said to him, “You have answered correctly. Do this, and you will live.”
29 But the man wanted to vindicate himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 29 Mas él, queriéndose justificar á sí mismo, dijo á Jesús: ¿Y quién es mi prójimo?
29 But he, desiring to justify himself, asked Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?”
30 Jesus replied, saying, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho. He was attacked by robbers who stripped him and beat him, and left him for dead. 30 Y respondiendo Jesús, dijo: Un hombre descendía de Jerusalem á Jericó, y cayó en [manos de] ladrones, los cuales le despojaron; é hiriéndole, se fueron, dejándole medio muerto.
30 Jesus answered, “A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31 It so happened that a priest was going the same way. He saw the man, but he passed by on the other side of the road.
31 By chance a certain priest was going down that way. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32 Then a Levite came along. But when he got to the place and saw the man, he also passed by on the other side.
32 In the same way a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.
33 Finally a Samaritan man came along. As he passed by, he saw the man and felt sorry for him. 33 Mas un Samaritano que transitaba, viniendo cerca de él, y viéndole, fué movido á misericordia;
33 But a certain Samaritan, as he traveled, came where he was. When he saw him, he was moved with compassion,
34 He went over and treated the man's wounds with oil and wine, and bandaged them. Then he placed the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn where he took care of him.
34 came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. He set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 The next day he gave two denarii to the innkeeper and told him, ‘Take care of him, and if you spend more than this, I'll pay you back when I return.’ 35 Y otro día al partir, sacó dos denarios, y diólos al huésped, y le dijo: Cuídamele; y todo lo que de más gastares, yo cuando vuelva te [lo] pagaré.
35 On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the host, and said to him, ‘Take care of him. Whatever you spend beyond that, I will repay you when I return.’
36 Which one of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who was attacked by robbers?” 36 ¿Quién, pues, de estos tres te parece que fué el prójimo de aquél que cayó en [manos de] los ladrones?
36 Now which of these three do you think seemed to be a neighbor to him who fell among the robbers?”
37 “The one who showed him kindness,” the man replied. “You go and do the same,” Jesus told him.
37 He said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”
38 While they were on their way, Jesus arrived at a village, and a woman called Martha invited him to her home.
38 As they went on their way, he entered into a certain village, and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching.
39 She had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard his word.
40 Martha was concerned about all that needed to be done to prepare the meal, so she came to Jesus and said, “Master, don't you care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her to come and help me!” 40 Empero Marta se distraía en muchos servicios; y sobreviniendo, dice: Señor, ¿no tienes cuidado que mi hermana me deja servir sola? Dile pues, que me ayude.
40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she came up to him, and said, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister left me to serve alone? Ask her therefore to help me.”
41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord replied, “you're worried and upset about all this. 41 Pero respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: Marta, Marta, cuidadosa estás, y con las muchas cosas estás turbada:
41 Jesus answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things,
42 But only one thing is really necessary. Mary has chosen the right thing, and it shall not be taken away from her.” 42 Empero una cosa es necesaria; y María escogió la buena parte, la cual no le será quitada.
42 but one thing is needed. Mary has chosen the good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
