Psalm 22 in VUL = Psalm 23 in WEB.

VUL Clementine Vulgate
WEB World English Bible (Classic, with Deuterocanon)
1 Psalmus David. [Dominus regit me, et nihil mihi deerit:
23:1 A Psalm by David. Yahweh is my shepherd; I shall lack nothing.
2 in loco pascuæ, ibi me collocavit. Super aquam refectionis educavit me;
23:2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.
3 animam meam convertit. Deduxit me super semitas justitiæ propter nomen suum.
23:3 He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Nam etsi ambulavero in medio umbræ mortis, non timebo mala, quoniam tu mecum es. Virga tua, et baculus tuus, ipsa me consolata sunt.
23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 Parasti in conspectu meo mensam adversus eos qui tribulant me; impinguasti in oleo caput meum: et calix meus inebrians, quam præclarus est !
23:5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over.
6 Et misericordia tua subsequetur me omnibus diebus vitæ meæ; et ut inhabitem in domo Domini in longitudinem dierum.]
23:6 Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in Yahweh’s house forever.

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations). Verse numbers below follow the Hebrew/English numbering: 23.

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).

  1. Commentary Augustine of Hippo, Expositions on the Psalms (Psalm XXII)

"To the end," for His own resurrection, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself speaketh. For in the morning on the first day of the week was His resurrection, whereby He was taken up, into eternal life, "Over whom death shall have no more dominion." Now what follows is spoken in the person of The Crucified.
