Notas sobre este texto (1)

1 Sing ye unto Jehovah a new song: sing unto Jehovah, all the earth. 2 Sing unto Jehovah, bless his name; publish his salvation from day to day. 3 Declare his glory among the nations, his wondrous works among all the peoples. 4 For Jehovah is great and exceedingly to be praised; he is terrible above all gods. 5 For all the gods of the peoples are idols; but Jehovah made the heavens. 6 Majesty and splendour are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. 7 Give unto Jehovah, ye families of peoples, give unto Jehovah glory and strength; 8 Give unto Jehovah the glory of his name; bring an oblation and come into his courts; 9 Worship Jehovah in holy splendour; tremble before him, all the earth. 10 Say among the nations, Jehovah reigneth! yea, the world is established, it shall not be moved; he will execute judgment upon the peoples with equity. 11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; 12 Let the field exult and all that is therein. Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy, 13 Before Jehovah, for he cometh; for he cometh to judge the earth: he will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples in his faithfulness.

  1. Cita 96:5 Irenaeus of Lyons, Against Heresies (Book III, Chapter VI)

As with David: "The gods of the heathen are idols of demons;" and, "Ye shall not follow other gods." For in that he says "the gods of the heathen"--but the heathen are ignorant of the true God--and calls them "other gods," he bars their claim [to be looked upon] as gods at all.

  2. Cita 96:4 Augustine of Hippo, Confessions (Book XI)

Not surely that Thou mightest know them through me, but that I may awaken my own love and that of my readers towards Thee, that we may all say, "Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised." I have already said, and shall say, for the love of Thy love do I this.

  3. Cita 96:11 Cyril of Jerusalem, Catechetical Lectures (Lecture III)

    1. Rejoice, ye heavens, and let the earth be glad, for those who are to be sprinkled with hyssop, and cleansed with the spiritual hyssop, the power of Him to whom at His Passion drink was offered on hyssop and a reed.

  4. Cita 96:11 John of Damascus, An Exact Exposition of the Orthodox Faith (Book II, Chapters IV–VI)

So that when the divine Scripture saith, Let the heavens rejoice and the earth be glad, it is the angels in heaven and the men on earth that are invited to rejoice.

  5. Cita 96:1 Irenaeus of Lyons, Against Heresies (Book IV, Chapter IX)

… the treasure new and old, the two covenants; the old, that giving of the law which took place formerly; and He points out as the new, that manner of life required by the Gospel, of which David says, "Sing unto the Lord a new song;" and Esaias, "Sing unto the Lord a new hymn.
