1 (65-1) For the Leader. A Psalm. A Song of David. (65-2) Praise waiteth for Thee, O God, in Zion; and unto Thee the vow is performed.
1 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David. A song. Praise waits for you, God, in Zion. Vows shall be performed to you.
2 (65-3) O Thou that hearest prayer, unto Thee doth all flesh come.
2 Tú oyes la oración: á ti vendrá toda carne.
2 You who hear prayer, all men will come to you.
3 (65-4) The tale of iniquities is too heavy for me; as for our transgressions, Thou wilt pardon them.
3 Sins overwhelmed me, but you atoned for our transgressions.
4 (65-5) Happy is the man whom Thou choosest, and bringest near, that he may dwell in Thy courts; may we be satisfied with the goodness of Thy house, the holy place of Thy temple!
4 Blessed is the one whom you choose and cause to come near, that he may live in your courts. We will be filled with the goodness of your house, your holy temple.
5 (65-6) With wondrous works dost Thou answer us in righteousness, O God of our salvation; Thou the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of the far distant seas;
5 By awesome deeds of righteousness, you answer us, God of our salvation. You who are the hope of all the ends of the earth, of those who are far away on the sea.
6 (65-7) Who by Thy strength settest fast the mountains, who art girded about with might;
6 By your power, you form the mountains, having armed yourself with strength.
7 (65-8) Who stillest the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the tumult of the peoples;
7 You still the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the nations.
8 (65-9) So that they that dwell in the uttermost parts stand in awe of Thy signs; Thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.
8 They also who dwell in faraway places are afraid at your wonders. You call the morning’s dawn and the evening with songs of joy.
9 (65-10) Thou hast remembered the earth, and watered her, greatly enriching her, with the river of God that is full of water; Thou preparest them corn, for so preparest Thou her.
9 You visit the earth, and water it. You greatly enrich it. The river of God is full of water. You provide them grain, for so you have ordained it.
10 (65-11) Watering her ridges abundantly, settling down the furrows thereof, Thou makest her soft with showers; Thou blessest the growth thereof.
10 You drench its furrows. You level its ridges. You soften it with showers. You bless it with a crop.
11 (65-12) Thou crownest the year with Thy goodness; and Thy paths drop fatness.
11 You crown the year with your bounty. Your carts overflow with abundance.
12 (65-13) The pastures of the wilderness do drop; and the hills are girded with joy.
12 The wilderness grasslands overflow. The hills are clothed with gladness.
13 (65-14) The meadows are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, yea, they sing.
13 The pastures are covered with flocks. The valleys also are clothed with grain. They shout for joy! They also sing.

  1. Comentario Augustine of Hippo, Expositions on the Psalms (Psalm LXIV)

    Though chiefly the Lord's Passion is noticed in this Psalm, neither could the Martyrs have been strong, unless they had beheld Him, that first suffered; nor such things would they have endured in suffering, as He did, unless they had hoped for such things in the Resurrection as He had showed of Himself: but your Holiness knoweth that our Head …
