Estos profetizaban acompañándose de arpas, liras y címbalos. La siguiente es la lista de todos los que fueron apartados para este servicio: 1 ASIMISMO David y los príncipes del ejército apartaron para el ministerio á los hijos de Asaph, y de Hemán, y de Jeduthún, los cuales profetizasen con arpas, salterios, y címbalos: y el número de ellos fué, de hombres [idóneos] para la obra de su ministerio respectivo:
1 Moreover, David and the captains of the army set apart for the service certain of the sons of Asaph, of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who were to prophesy with harps, with stringed instruments, and with cymbals. The number of those who did the work according to their service was:
2 Bajo la dirección de Asaf, profeta privado del rey, estaban sus hijos Zacur, José, Netanías y Asarela. 2 De los hijos de Asaph: Zachûr, José, Methanías, y Asareela, hijos de Asaph, bajo la dirección de Asaph, el cual profetizaba á la orden del rey.
2 of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asharelah. The sons of Asaph were under the hand of Asaph, who prophesied at the order of the king.
3 Bajo Jedutún, que guiaba en la acción de gracias y alabanza al Señor (mientras eran acompañados por el arpa), estaban sus seis hijos: Guedalías, Zeri, Isaías, Jasabías, Matatías y Simí. 3 De Jeduthún: los hijos de Jeduthún, Gedalías, Sesi, Jesaías, Hasabías, y Mathithías, [y Simi]: seis, bajo la mano de su padre Jeduthún, el cual profetizaba con arpa, para celebrar y alabar á Jehová.
3 Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied in giving thanks and praising Yahweh with the harp.
4 Bajo la dirección de Hemán, profeta al servicio del rey, estaban sus hijos: Buquías, Matanías, Uziel, Sebuel, Jeremot, Jananías, Jananí, Eliatá, Guidalti, Romanti Ezer, Josbecasa, Malotí, Hotir y Mahaziot (Porque Dios lo había bendecido con catorce hijos y tres hijas, cumpliendo así su promesa de que haría de él un hombre muy poderoso). 4 De Hemán: los hijos de Hemán, Buccia, Mathanía, Uzziel, Sebuel, Jerimoth, Hananías, Hanani, Eliatha, Gidalthi, Romamti-ezer, Josbecasa, Mallothi, Othir, y Mahazioth.
4 Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.

5 Todos estos fueron hijos de Hemán, vidente del rey en palabras de Dios, para ensalzar el poder [suyo]: y dió Dios á Hemán catorce hijos y tres hijas.
5 All these were the sons of Heman the king’s seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
6 El ministerio de la música a cargo de ellos incluía el tocar los címbalos, arpas y liras, todo bajo la dirección de su padre, mientras desempeñaban su ministerio en el santuario. Asaf, Jedutún y Hemán rendían informe directamente al rey. Ellos y sus familiares estaban adiestrados para cantar alabanzas al Señor. Eran doscientos ochenta y ocho en total, siendo cada uno de ellos maestro de música. 6 Y todos estos estaban bajo la dirección de su padre en la música, en la casa de Jehová, con címbalos, salterios y arpas, para el ministerio del templo de Dios, por disposición del rey [acerca] de Asaph, de Jeduthún, y de Hemán.
6 All these were under the hands of their father for song in Yahweh’s house, with cymbals, stringed instruments, and harps, for the service of God’s house: Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman being under the order of the king.

7 Y el número de ellos con sus hermanos instruídos en música de Jehová, todos los aptos, fué doscientos ochenta y ocho.
7 The number of them, with their brothers who were instructed in singing to Yahweh, even all who were skillful, was two hundred eighty-eight.
8 Los cantores eran nombrados para su turno particular de servicios mediante sorteo, sin considerar la edad o reputación. 8 Y echaron suertes para los turnos [del servicio], [entrando] el pequeño con el grande, lo mismo el maestro que el discípulo.
8 They cast lots for their offices, all alike, the small as well as the great, the teacher as well as the student.
