1 El ejército israelita fue dividido en doce regimientos, cada uno con veinticuatro mil soldados, incluyendo oficiales y personal administrativo. Estas unidades recibían el llamado para prestar servicio activo durante un mes al año. La que sigue es la lista de unidades y sus comandantes en jefe:

1 Y LOS hijos de Israel según su número, [á saber], príncipes de familias, tribunos, centuriones y oficiales de los que servían al rey en todos los negocios de las divisiones que entraban y salían cada mes en todos los meses del año, eran en cada división veinte y cuatro mil.

1 Now the children of Israel after their number, the heads of fathers’ households and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and their officers who served the king in any matter of the divisions which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year—of every division were twenty-four thousand.

5 El jefe de la tercera división era Benaías, hijo del sumo sacerdote Joyadá. Sus veinticuatro mil hombres que prestaban su servicio el tercer mes de cada año. Benaías fue uno de los treinta valientes y jefe de ellos. Su hijo Amisabad formaba parte de esta división.

8 El quinto jefe para el quinto mes era Sambuth Izrita: y en su división había veinte y cuatro mil.

8 The fifth captain for the fifth month was Shamhuth the Izrahite. In his division were twenty-four thousand.

9 El jefe de la sexta división fue Irá hijo de Iqués, de Tecoa. Tenía veinticuatro mil hombres que prestaban su servicio el sexto mes de cada año.

10 The seventh captain for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim. In his division were twenty-four thousand.

11 El jefe de la octava división era Sibecay de Jusá, descendiente de los zeraítas. Tenía veinticuatro mil hombres que prestaban su servicio el octavo mes de cada año.

12 The ninth captain for the ninth month was Abiezer the Anathothite, of the Benjamites. In his division were twenty-four thousand.

24 Joab the son of Zeruiah began to take a census, but didn’t finish; and wrath came on Israel for this. The number wasn’t put into the account in the chronicles of King David.

25 Azmávet hijo de Adiel era el funcionario que tenía a su cargo las tesorerías del palacio, y Jonatán hijo de Uzías estaba a cargo de las tesorerías regionales a través de las ciudades, pueblos y fortalezas de Israel.

25 Over the king’s treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel. Over the treasures in the fields, in the cities, in the villages, and in the towers was Jonathan the son of Uzziah;

26 Over those who did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub.

27 Over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite. Over the increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite.

28 Baal Janán de Guéder era responsable de las plantaciones de olivos y de los bosques de sicómoro del rey en los llanos, frente a la frontera con los filisteos. Joás tenía a su cargo el abastecimiento de aceite de oliva.

28 Over the olive trees and the sycamore trees that were in the lowland was Baal Hanan the Gederite. Over the cellars of oil was Joash.

29 Sitray de Sarón estaba a cargo del ganado en las planicies de Sarón. Safat hijo de Adlay tenía a su cargo el ganado que estaba en los valles.

29 De las vacas que pastaban en Sarón, Sitrai Saronita; y de las vacas que estaban en los valles, Saphat hijo de Adlai;

29 Over the herds that fed in Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite. Over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai.

30 Obil, del territorio de Ismael, tenía a su cargo los camellos. Jehedías de Meronot tenía a su cargo los burros.

30 Y de los camellos, Obil Ismaelita; y de las asnas, Jedías Meronothita;

30 Over the camels was Obil the Ishmaelite. Over the donkeys was Jehdeiah the Meronothite. Over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagrite.

32 Also Jonathan, David’s uncle, was a counselor, a man of understanding, and a scribe. Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king’s sons.

33 Ajitofel era también consejero oficial del rey. Husay el arquita era su consejero privado.

33 Ahithophel was the king’s counselor. Hushai the Archite was the king’s friend.
