WEB World English Bible (Classic, with Deuterocanon) 1 They arrived on the other side of the lake in the region of the Gerasenes.
1 They came to the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.
2 When Jesus got out of the boat a man with an evil spirit came from the graveyard to meet him.
2 When he had come out of the boat, immediately a man with an unclean spirit met him out of the tombs.
3 This man lived among the tombs, and it had been impossible to tie him up any longer, even with a chain. 3 Que tenía domicilio en los sepulcros, y ni aun con cadenas le podía alguien atar;
3 He lived in the tombs. Nobody could bind him any more, not even with chains,
4 He had often been tied up with chains and shackles, but he simply tore the chains apart and broke the shackles into pieces. No one had the strength to subdue him.
4 because he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been torn apart by him, and the fetters broken in pieces. Nobody had the strength to tame him.
5 Day and night he was always shouting out among the tombs and in the hills nearby, cutting himself with sharp stones.
5 Always, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying out, and cutting himself with stones.
6 Seeing Jesus from a distance he ran and kneeled in front of him.
6 When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and bowed down to him,
7 In a loud voice he cried out, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of Almighty God? Swear by God that you won't torture me!” 7 Y clamando á gran voz, dijo: ¿Qué tienes conmigo, Jesús, Hijo del Dios Altísimo?
7 and crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have I to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, don’t torment me.”
8 For Jesus had already told the evil spirit to leave the man.
8 For he said to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!”
9 Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” “My name is Legion, because we are many!” he replied. 9 Y le preguntó: ¿Cómo te llamas? Y respondió diciendo: Legión me llamo; porque somos muchos.
9 He asked him, “What is your name?” He said to him, “My name is Legion, for we are many.”
10 He also repeatedly pleaded with Jesus not to send them a long way away.
10 He begged him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
11 A large herd of pigs was feeding on the hillside nearby.
11 Now on the mountainside there was a great herd of pigs feeding.
12 The evil spirits pleaded with him, “Send us to the pigs so we can enter them.” 12 Y le rogaron todos los demonios, diciendo: Envíanos á los puercos para que entremos en ellos.
12 All the demons begged him, saying, “Send us into the pigs, that we may enter into them.”
13 Jesus allowed them to do this. The evil spirits left the man and went into the pigs. The whole herd, about two thousand, rushed down the steep cliff into the sea and drowned.
13 At once Jesus gave them permission. The unclean spirits came out and entered into the pigs. The herd of about two thousand rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and they were drowned in the sea.
14 The pig-keepers ran away, and spread the news all over town and in the countryside. People came out to see what had happened.
14 Those who fed the pigs fled, and told it in the city and in the country. The people came to see what it was that had happened.
15 When they found Jesus they saw the man who had been demon-possessed sitting there, dressed, and in his right mind—the one who had the legion of evil spirits—and they became frightened!
15 They came to Jesus, and saw him who had been possessed by demons sitting, clothed, and in his right mind, even him who had the legion; and they were afraid.
16 Then those who had seen what had happened to the man who had been demon-possessed and the pigs told the others.
16 Those who saw it declared to them what happened to him who was possessed by demons, and about the pigs.
17 They began pleading with Jesus to leave their district.
17 They began to beg him to depart from their region.
18 As Jesus climbed into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him.
18 As he was entering into the boat, he who had been possessed by demons begged him that he might be with him.
19 But Jesus refused, telling him, “Go home to your own people, and tell them how much the Lord has done for you and how he has been merciful to you.” 19 Mas Jesús no le permitió, sino le dijo: Vete á tu casa, á los tuyos, y cuéntales cuán grandes cosas el Señor ha hecho contigo, y [cómo] ha tenido misericordia de ti.
19 He didn’t allow him, but said to him, “Go to your house, to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you and how he had mercy on you.”
20 So the man went on his way and began to tell the people of the Ten Cities everything Jesus had done for him, and everyone was amazed.
20 He went his way, and began to proclaim in Decapolis how Jesus had done great things for him, and everyone marveled.
21 Jesus went back again by boat to the other side of the lake where a large crowd gathered around him at the shore.
21 When Jesus had crossed back over in the boat to the other side, a great multitude was gathered to him; and he was by the sea.
22 A synagogue leader, a man named Jairus, came to him. When he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet 22 Y vino uno de los príncipes de la sinagoga, llamado Jairo; y luego que le vió, se postró á sus pies,
22 Behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, came; and seeing him, he fell at his feet
23 and pleaded with him, saying, “My little daughter is about to die. Please come and place your hands on her so she may be healed and live.” 23 Y le rogaba mucho, diciendo: Mi hija está á la muerte: ven y pondrás las manos sobre ella para que sea salva, y vivirá.
23 and begged him much, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Please come and lay your hands on her, that she may be made healthy, and live.”
24 So Jesus went with him. Everybody followed, crowding and jostling him.
24 He went with him, and a great multitude followed him, and they pressed upon him on all sides.
25 A woman was there who had been ill from bleeding for twelve years.
25 A certain woman who had a discharge of blood for twelve years,
26 She'd suffered considerably under the care of many doctors, and had spent all she had. But nothing helped her—in fact she'd grown worse.
26 and had suffered many things by many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better, but rather grew worse,
27 She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd, and touched his cloak.
27 having heard the things concerning Jesus, came up behind him in the crowd and touched his clothes.
28 She was telling herself, “If I can just touch his cloak, I'll be healed.” 28 Porque decía: Si tocare tan solamente su vestido, seré salva.
28 For she said, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be made well.”
29 The bleeding stopped immediately, and she felt her body healed from her disease.
29 Immediately the flow of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction.
30 Jesus, sensing at once that power had gone out from him, turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my cloak?” 30 Y luego Jesús, conociendo en sí mismo la virtud que había salido de él, volviéndose á la compañía, dijo: ¿Quién ha tocado mis vestidos?
30 Immediately Jesus, perceiving in himself that the power had gone out from him, turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”
31 “Look at the crowd jostling you. What do you mean, ‘Who touched me?’” the disciples replied.
31 His disciples said to him, “You see the multitude pressing against you, and you say, ‘Who touched me?’”
32 But Jesus went on looking around to see who had done it. 32 Y él miraba alrededor para ver á la que había hecho esto.
32 He looked around to see her who had done this thing.
33 The woman, realizing what had happened to her, came and fell down before him, and told him the whole truth.
33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34 “My daughter, your trust in me has healed you. Go in peace. You have been completely cured of your disease,” Jesus told her. 34 Y él le dijo: Hija, tu fe te ha hecho salva: ve en paz, y queda sana de tu azote.
34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be cured of your disease.”
35 While he was still speaking some people came from the home of the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “You don't need to bother the Teacher any longer.” 35 Hablando aún él, vinieron de casa del príncipe de la sinagoga, diciendo: Tu hija es muerta; ¿para qué fatigas más al Maestro?
35 While he was still speaking, people came from the synagogue ruler’s house, saying, “Your daughter is dead. Why bother the Teacher any more?”
36 But Jesus paid no attention to what they said. He told the synagogue leader, “Don't be afraid, just trust in me.” 36 Mas luego Jesús, oyendo esta razón que se decía, dijo al príncipe de la sinagoga: No temas, cree solamente.
36 But Jesus, when he heard the message spoken, immediately said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Don’t be afraid, only believe.”
37 He wouldn't let anyone go with him except Peter, James, and James' brother John.
37 He allowed no one to follow him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.
38 When they arrived at the synagogue leader's house, Jesus saw all the commotion, with people crying and wailing.
38 He came to the synagogue ruler’s house, and he saw an uproar, weeping, and great wailing.
39 He went in and asked them, “Why are you making such a commotion with all this crying? The little girl isn't dead, she's just sleeping.” 39 Y entrando, les dice: ¿Por qué alborotáis y lloráis? La muchacha no es muerta, mas duerme.
39 When he had entered in, he said to them, “Why do you make an uproar and weep? The child is not dead, but is asleep.”
40 They laughed scornfully at him. Jesus made everyone leave. Then he went into the room where the little girl was lying, taking with him the child's father and mother, and the three disciples.
40 They ridiculed him. But he, having put them all out, took the father of the child, her mother, and those who were with him, and went in where the child was lying.
41 Taking the little girl's hand he said, “Talitha koum,” which means, “Little girl, get up!” 41 Y tomando la mano de la muchacha, le dice: Talitha cumi; que es, si lo interpretares: Muchacha, á ti digo, levántate.
41 Taking the child by the hand, he said to her, “Talitha cumi!” which means, being interpreted, “Girl, I tell you, get up!”
42 The little girl, who was twelve years old, got up immediately and began walking around. They were completely astonished at what had happened.
42 Immediately the girl rose up and walked, for she was twelve years old. They were amazed with great amazement.
43 He gave them strict instructions not to let anyone know, and he told them to give the little girl something to eat.
43 He strictly ordered them that no one should know this, and commanded that something should be given to her to eat.
