Notes on this text (2)

Psalm 15 in LXX = Psalm 16 in RV1909.

LXX Brenton's Greek Septuagint
RV1909 Reina-Valera 1909
16:1 Michtham de David. GUÁRDAME, oh Dios, porque en ti he confiado.
16:2 Dijiste, [oh alma mía], á Jehová: Tú eres el Señor: mi bien á ti no [aprovecha];

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations). Verse numbers below follow the Hebrew/English numbering: 16.

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).

Not to be wearisome, suffice it to quote this brief saying from a psalm: "I have said to the Lord, Thou art my God: for Thou needest not my goodness."
