PT Patriarchal Text (Antoniades 1904/1912)
RV1909 Reina-Valera 1909
1 τολμα τις υμων, πραγμα εχων προς τον ετερον, κρινεσθαι επι των αδικων και ουχι επι των αγιων;
2 ουκ οιδατε οτι οι αγιοι τον κοσμον κρινουσιν; και ει εν υμιν κρινεται ο κοσμος, αναξιοι εστε κριτηριων ελαχιστων;
3 ουκ οιδατε οτι αγγελους κρινουμεν; μητι γε βιωτικα;
5 Para avergonzaros lo digo. ¿Pues qué, no hay entre vosotros sabio, ni aun uno que pueda juzgar entre sus hermanos;
6 αλλα αδελφος μετα αδελφου κρινεται, και τουτο επι απιστων;
7 ηδη μεν ουν ολως ηττημα υμιν εστιν οτι κριματα εχετε μεθ εαυτων. διατι ουχι μαλλον αδικεισθε; διατι ουχι μαλλον αποστερεισθε;
8 αλλα υμεις αδικειτε και αποστερειτε, και ταυτα αδελφους;
19 η ουκ οιδατε οτι το σωμα υμων ναος του εν υμιν αγιου πνευματος εστιν, ου εχετε απο θεου, και ουκ εστε εαυτων;

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).
