2 I reče mi: Šta vidiš?
2 Y díjome: ¿Qué ves? Y respondí: He mirado, y he aquí un candelero todo de oro, con su vaso sobre su cabeza, y sus siete lámparas encima del candelero; y siete canales para las lámparas que están encima de él;
3 i dve masline uza nj, jedna s desne strane čaši a jedna s leve.
I rekoh: Ne, gospodaru moj.
Y dije: No, señor mío.
6 A on odgovori i reče mi govoreći: To je reč Gospodnja Zorovavelju: ne silom ni krepošću nego Duhom mojim, veli Gospod nad vojskama.
Ravnica; i on će izneti najviši kamen, s usklicima: Milost, milost njemu.
8 I dođe mi reč Gospodnja govoreći:
8 Y fué palabra de Jehová á mí, diciendo:
9 Ruke Zorovaveljeve osnovaše ovaj dom, ruke će njegove i dovršiti, i poznaćeš da me je Gospod nad vojskama poslao k vama.
11 Tada odgovarajući rekoh mu: Šta su one dve masline s desne strane svećnjaku i s leve?
13 I reče mi govoreći: Zar ne znaš šta je to? A ja rekoh: Ne, gospodaru moj.
Y dije: Señor mío, no.

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).

  1. Quotes verse 4:10 Cyril of Jerusalem, Catechetical Lectures (Lecture VI)

Some again dared to say that He has seven eyes, because it is written, seven eyes of the Lord looking upon the whole earth.
