Tyndale Tyndale New Testament (1534) WEB World English Bible (Classic, with Deuterocanon) 1 Ther was a certayne man in Cesarea called Cornelius a captayne of the soudiers of Italy 1 Y HABÍA un varón en Cesarea llamado Cornelio, centurión de la compañía que se llamaba la Italiana,
1 Now there was a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,
2 a devoute man and one that feared God with all his housholde which gave moche almes to the people and prayde God alwaye.
2 a devout man, and one who feared God with all his house, who gave gifts for the needy generously to the people, and always prayed to God.
3 The same man sawe in a vision evydetly aboute the nynthe houre of the daye an angell of god comynge into him and sayinge vnto him: Cornelius.
3 At about the ninth hour of the day, he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God coming to him and saying to him, “Cornelius!”
4 When he looked on him he was afrayde and sayde: what is it lorde? He sayde vnto him. Thy prayers and thy almeses are come vp into remembraunce before God. 4 Y él, puestos en él los ojos, espantado, dijo: ¿Qué es, Señor?
4 He, fastening his eyes on him and being frightened, said, “What is it, Lord?” He said to him, “Your prayers and your gifts to the needy have gone up for a memorial before God.
5 And now sende men to Ioppa and call for one Simon named also Peter.
5 Now send men to Joppa, and get Simon, who is also called Peter.
6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner whose housse is by the see syde. He shall tell the what thou oughtest to doo.
6 He is staying with a tanner named Simon, whose house is by the seaside.
7 When the angell which spake vnto Cornelius was departed he called two of his housholde servauntes and a devoute soudier of them that wayted on him 7 E ido el ángel que hablaba con Cornelio, llamó dos de sus criados, y un devoto soldado de los que le asistían;
7 When the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier of those who waited on him continually.
8 and tolde them all the mater and sent them to Ioppa.
8 Having explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.
9 On the morowe as they wet on their iorney and drewe nye vnto the cite Peter went vp into the toppe of the housse to praye aboute the .vi. houre. 9 Y al día siguiente, yendo ellos su camino, y llegando cerca de la ciudad, Pedro subió á la azotea á orar, cerca de la hora de sexta;
9 Now on the next day as they were on their journey and got close to the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray at about noon.
10 Then wexed he an hongred and wolde have eate. But whyll they made redy. He fell into a trauce 10 Y aconteció que le vino una grande hambre, y quiso comer; pero mientras disponían, sobrevínole un éxtasis;
10 He became hungry and desired to eat, but while they were preparing, he fell into a trance.
11 and sawe heven opened and a certayne vessell come doune vnto him as it had bene a greate shete knyt at the .iiii. corners and was let doune to the erth 11 Y vió el cielo abierto, y que descendía un vaso, como un gran lienzo, que atado de los cuatro cabos era bajado á la tierra;
11 He saw heaven opened and a certain container descending to him, like a great sheet let down by four corners on the earth,
12 where in wer all maner of .iiii. foted beastes of the erth and vermen and wormes and foules of the ayer.
12 in which were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, reptiles, and birds of the sky.
13 And ther came a voyce to him: ryse Peter kyll and eate.
13 A voice came to him, “Rise, Peter, kill and eat!”
14 But Peter sayde: God forbyd Lorde for I have never eaten eny thinge that is comen or vnclene. 14 Entonces Pedro dijo: Señor, no; porque ninguna cosa común é inmunda he comido jamás.
14 But Peter said, “Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.”
15 And the voyce spake vnto him agayne the seconde tyme: what God hath clensed that make thou not comen.
15 A voice came to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed, you must not call unclean.”
16 This was done thryse and the vessell was receaved vp agayne into heven.
16 This was done three times, and immediately the thing was received up into heaven.
17 Whyle Peter mused in him selfe what this vision which he had sene meant beholde the men which were sent from Cornelius had made inquirance for Simons housse and stode before the dore.
17 Now while Peter was very perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon’s house, stood before the gate,
18 And called out won and axed whether Simon which was also called Peter were lodged there.
18 and called and asked whether Simon, who was also called Peter, was lodging there.
19 Whyll Peter thought on this vision the sprete sayde vnto him: Beholde men seke the: 19 Y estando Pedro pensando en la visión, le dijo el Espíritu: He aquí, tres hombres te buscan.
19 While Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men seek you.
20 aryse therfore get the doune and goo with them and doute not. For I have sent them.
20 But arise, get down, and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.”
21 Peter went doune to the men which were sent vnto him from Cornelius and sayde Beholde I am he whom ye seke what is the cause wherfore ye are come?
21 Peter went down to the men, and said, “Behold, I am he whom you seek. Why have you come?”
22 And they sayde vnto him: Cornelius the captayne a iust man and won that feareth God and of good reporte amonge all the people of the Iewes was warned by an holy angell to sende for the into his housse and to heare wordes of the.
22 They said, “Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous man and one who fears God, and well spoken of by all the nation of the Jews, was directed by a holy angel to invite you to his house, and to listen to what you say.”
23 Then called he them in and lodged them. And on the morowe Peter wet awaye with them and certayne brethren from Ioppa accompanyed hym.
23 So he called them in and provided a place to stay. On the next day Peter arose and went out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa accompanied him.
24 And the thyrd daye entred they into Cesaria. And Cornelius wayted for them and had called to gether his kynsmen and speciall frendes.
24 On the next day they entered into Caesarea. Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his relatives and his near friends.
25 And as it chaunsed Peter to come in Cornelius met hym and fell doune at his fete and worshipped hym.
25 When Peter entered, Cornelius met him, fell down at his feet, and worshiped him.
26 But Peter toke him vp sayinge: stonde vp: for evyn I my silfe am a man.
26 But Peter raised him up, saying, “Stand up! I myself am also a man.”
27 And as he talked with him he cam in and founde many that were come to gether.
27 As he talked with him, he went in and found many gathered together.
28 And he sayde vnto them: Ye do knowe how that that ys an vnlawfull thynge for a man that is a Iewe to company or come vnto an alient: But god hath shewed me that I shuld not call eny man commen or vnclene: 28 Y les dijo: Vosotros sabéis que es abominable á un varón Judío juntarse ó llegarse á extranjero; mas me ha mostrado Dios que á ningún hombre llame común ó inmundo;
28 He said to them, “You yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man who is a Jew to join himself or come to one of another nation, but God has shown me that I shouldn’t call any man unholy or unclean.
29 therfore came I vnto you with oute sayege naye assone as I was sent for. I axe therfore for what intent have ye sent for me? 29 Por lo cual, llamado, he venido sin dudar.
29 Therefore I also came without complaint when I was sent for. I ask therefore, why did you send for me?”
30 And Cornelius sayde: This daye now .iiii. dayes I fasted and at the nynthe houre I prayde in my housse: and beholde a man stode before me in bright clothynge and sayde: 30 Entonces Cornelio dijo: Cuatro días ha que á esta hora yo estaba ayuno; y á la hora de nona estando orando en mi casa, he aquí, un varón se puso delante de mí en vestido resplandeciente.
30 Cornelius said, “Four days ago, I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour, I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing
31 Cornelius thy prayer is hearde and thyne almes dedes are had in remembraunce in the sight of God. 31 Y dijo: Cornelio, tu oración es oída, y tus limosnas han venido en memoria en la presencia de Dios.
31 and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer is heard, and your gifts to the needy are remembered in the sight of God.
32 Sende therfore to Ioppa and call for Simon which is also called Peter. He is lodged in the housse of one Simon a tanner by the see syde the wich assone as he is come shall speake vnto the.
32 Send therefore to Joppa and summon Simon, who is also called Peter. He is staying in the house of a tanner named Simon, by the seaside. When he comes, he will speak to you.’
33 Then sent I for the immediatly and thou hast well done for to come. Now are we all here present before god to heare all thynges that are commaunded vnto the of God. 33 Así que, luego envié á ti; y tú has hecho bien en venir.
33 Therefore I sent to you at once, and it was good of you to come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God to hear all things that have been commanded you by God.”
34 Then Peter opened his mouth and sayde: Of a trueth I perseave that God is not parciall 34 Entonces Pedro, abriendo su boca, dijo: Por verdad hallo que Dios no hace acepción de personas;
34 Peter opened his mouth and said, “Truly I perceive that God doesn’t show favoritism;
35 but in all people he that feareth him and worketh rightewesnes is accepted with him.
35 but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.
36 Ye knowe the preachynge that God sent vnto the chyldren of Israel preachinge peace by Iesus Christe (which is Lorde over all thinges: 36 Envió palabra [Dios] á los hijos de Israel, anunciando la paz por Jesucristo; éste es el Señor de todos.
36 The word which he sent to the children of Israel, preaching good news of peace by Jesus Christ—he is Lord of all—
37 Which preachinge was published thorow oute all Iewrye and begane in Galile after the baptyme which Iohn preached 37 Vosotros sabéis lo que fué divulgado por toda Judea; comenzando desde Galilea después del bautismo que Juan predicó,
37 you yourselves know what happened, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
38 how God had annoynted Iesus of Nazareth with the holy goost and with power which Iesus went aboute doinge good and healynge all that were oppressed of the develles for God was with him.
38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
39 And we are witnesses of all thinges which he dyd in the londe of the Iewes and at Ierusalem whom they slew and honge on tree.
39 We are witnesses of everything he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem; whom they also killed, hanging him on a tree.
40 Him God reysed vp the thyrde daye and shewed him openly 40 A éste levantó Dios al tercer día, é hizo que apareciese manifiesto,
40 God raised him up the third day and gave him to be revealed,
41 not to all the people but vnto vs witnesses chosyn before of God which ate and dronke with him after he arose from deeth.
41 not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen before by God, to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
42 And he commaunded vs to preache vnto the people and testifie that it is he that is ordened of God a iudge of quycke and deed.
42 He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that this is he who is appointed by God as the Judge of the living and the dead.
43 To him geve all the Prophetes witnes that thorowe his name shall receave remission of synnes all that beleve in him.
43 All the prophets testify about him, that through his name everyone who believes in him will receive remission of sins.”
44 Whyle Peter yet spake these wordes the holy gost fell on all them which hearde the preachinge.
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.
45 And they of the circucision which beleved were astonyed as many as came with Peter because that on the Gentyls also was sheed oute the gyfte of the holy gost.
45 They of the circumcision who believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was also poured out on the Gentiles.
46 For they hearde them speake with tonges and magnify God.
46 For they heard them speaking in other languages and magnifying God. Then Peter answered,
47 can eny man forbyd water that these shuld not be baptised which have receaved the holy goost as well as we? 47 Entonces respondió Pedro: ¿Puede alguno impedir el agua, para que no sean bautizados éstos que han recibido el Espíritu Santo también como nosotros?
47 “Can anyone forbid these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just like us.”
48 And he commaunded them to be baptysed in the name of the Lorde. Then prayde they him to tary a feawe dayes.
48 He commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay some days.
