PT1904 Patriarchal Text 1904 (accented, eBible edition)
18 Después de tres años fui a Jerusalén a visitar a Pedro. Me quedé allí dos semanas con él.
21 Luego fui a Siria y a Cilicia.

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).

  1. Quotes verse 1:1 Polycarp of Smyrna, Epistle to the Philippians (Chapters VIII–XIV)

… and purity; and may He bestow on you a lot and portion among His saints, and on us with you, and on all that are under heaven, who shall believe in our Lord Jesus Christ, and in His Father, who "raised Him from the dead." Pray for all the saints.

  2. Quotes verse 1:1 Irenaeus of Lyons, Against Heresies (Book III, Chapter XIII)

Just, then, as "Paul [was] an apostle, not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father," [so with the rest;] the Son indeed leading them to the Father, but the Father revealing to them the Son.

  3. Quotes verse 1:10 Augustine of Hippo, Our Lord's Sermon on the Mount (Book I, Chapters VII–IX)

And the fishermen too He called when they were in the midst of their business.
