1 In finem. Psalmus David. [Judica me, Domine, quoniam ego in innocentia mea ingressus sum, et in Domino sperans non infirmabor.
26:1 Salmo de David. JÚZGAME, oh Jehová, porque yo en mi integridad he andado: confiado he asimismo en Jehová, no vacilaré.
26:1 By David. Judge me, Yahweh, for I have walked in my integrity. I have trusted also in Yahweh without wavering.
2 Proba me, Domine, et tenta me; ure renes meos et cor meum.
26:2 Pruébame, oh Jehová, y sondéame: examina mis riñones y mi corazón.
26:2 Examine me, Yahweh, and prove me. Try my heart and my mind.
3 Quoniam misericordia tua ante oculos meos est, et complacui in veritate tua.
26:3 For your loving kindness is before my eyes. I have walked in your truth.
26:4 I have not sat with deceitful men, neither will I go in with hypocrites.
26:5 I hate the assembly of evildoers, and will not sit with the wicked.
26:6 I will wash my hands in innocence, so I will go about your altar, Yahweh,
26:7 that I may make the voice of thanksgiving to be heard and tell of all your wondrous deeds.
26:8 Yahweh, I love the habitation of your house, the place where your glory dwells.
26:9 Don’t gather my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloodthirsty men
26:10 in whose hands is wickedness; their right hand is full of bribes.
11 Ego autem in innocentia mea ingressus sum; redime me, et miserere mei.
26:11 But as for me, I will walk in my integrity. Redeem me, and be merciful to me.
12 Pes meus stetit in directo; in ecclesiis benedicam te, Domine.]
26:12 My foot stands in an even place. In the congregations I will bless Yahweh.

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations). Verse numbers below follow the Hebrew/English numbering: 26.

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).
