CPDV Versión Católica de Dominio Público WEB World English Bible (clásica, con deuterocanónicos) 1 Because of need, many have sinned. And whoever seeks to be enriched, averts his eye. 1 Many have sinned for profit. He who seeks to multiply wealth will turn his eye away.
Like a post fixed in the middle of adjoining stones, so also will sin become wedged between selling and buying. 2 As a nail will stick fast between the joinings of stones, so sin will thrust itself in between buying and selling.
Sin will be crushed with the one who sins. 3 Unless a person holds on diligently to the fear of the Lord, his house will be overthrown quickly.
If you do not hold yourself steadfastly to the fear of the Lord, your house will be quickly overthrown. 4 In the shaking of a sieve, the refuse remains, so does the filth of man in his thoughts.
Just as the dust remains when one shakes a sieve, so will the doubt of a man remain in his thoughts. 5 The furnace tests the potter’s vessels; so the test of a person is in his thoughts.
The furnace tests the potter’s vessels, and the trial of the tribulation tests just men. 6 The fruit of a tree discloses its cultivation, so is the utterance of the thought of a person’s heart.
As the pruning of a tree reveals its fruit, so does a word reveal the thoughts in the heart of a man. 7 Praise no man before you hear his thoughts, for this is how people are tested.
You should not praise a man before he speaks; for such is the testing of men. 8 If you follow righteousness, you will obtain it, and put it on like a long robe of glory.
If you pursue justice, you will obtain it. And you will be clothed with justice, as with a long robe of honor. And you will live with justice. And justice will protect you continually. And on the day of reckoning, you will find a strong foundation. 9 Birds will return to their own kind, so truth will return to those who practice it.
Birds flock to their own kind. And truth will return to those who practice it. 10 The lion lies in wait for prey. So does sin for those who do evil.
The lion lies in wait for its prey continually. So also do sins lie in wait for those who work iniquity. 11 The discourse of a godly man is always wise, but the fool changes like the moon.
A holy man persists in wisdom like the sun. But a senseless man changes like the moon. 12 Limit your time among people void of understanding, but persevere among the thoughtful.
In the midst of the senseless, retain a word for the proper time. But be continually in the midst of those who are thoughtful. 13 The talk of fools is offensive. Their laughter is wantonly sinful.
The discussions of sinners are hateful, and their laughter is a delight in sin. 14 Their talk with much swearing makes hair stand upright. Their strife makes others plug their ears.
The speech that swears many oaths will cause the hair of the head to stand upright; and its irreverence will cause the ears to be blocked. 15 The strife of the proud leads to bloodshed. Their abuse of each other is a grievous thing to hear.
The shedding of blood is in the quarrels of the arrogant; and their evil talk is grievous to hear. 16 He who reveals secrets destroys trust, and will not find a close friend.
Whoever discloses the secret of a friend breaks faith; and he will not find a friend for his soul. 17 Love a friend, and keep faith with him; but if you reveal his secrets, you shall not follow him;
Love your neighbor, and be united with him faithfully. 18 for as a man has destroyed his enemy, so you have destroyed the friendship of your neighbor.
But if you disclose his secrets, you should not continue to follow after him. 19 As a bird which you have released out of your hand, so you have let your neighbor go, and you will not catch him again.
For like a man who destroys his friend, so also is he who destroys the friendship of his neighbor. 20 Don’t pursue him, for he has gone far away, and has escaped like a gazelle out of the snare.
And like someone releasing a bird from his hand, so have you abandoned your neighbor, and you will not obtain him again. 21 For a wound may be bound up, and after abuse there may be reconciliation; but he who reveals secrets is without hope.
You should no longer seek him, for he is now far away; he has fled like a roe-deer from a snare. For his soul has been wounded. 22 One who winks the eye contrives evil things; and those who know him will keep their distance.
You will no longer be able to bind his wound. For there may be a reconciliation from cursing. 23 When you are present, he will speak sweetly, and will admire your words; but afterward he will twist his speech and set a trap in your words.
But to disclose the secrets of a friend is the hopeless act of an unhappy soul. 24 I have hated many things, but nothing like him. The Lord will hate him.
One who winks with the eye fabricates iniquity, and no one will cast him aside. 25 One who casts a stone straight up casts it on his own head. A deceitful blow opens wounds.
In the sight of your eyes, he will sweeten his mouth, and he will admire your talk. But at the very end, he will pervert his mouth, and he will offer a scandal from your own words. 26 He who digs a pit will fall into it. He who sets a snare will be caught in it.
I have hated many things, but I have not done as he has done, and the Lord will hate him. 27 He who does evil things, they will roll back upon him, and he will not know where they came from.
Whoever throws a stone straight up will find that it falls on his own head. And a deceitful wound will return to wound the deceitful. 28 Mockery and reproach are from the arrogant. Vengeance lies in wait for them like a lion.
And whoever digs a pit will fall into it. And whoever positions a stone against his neighbor will stumble over it. And whoever lays a trap for another will perish by it. 29 Those who rejoice at the fall of the godly will be caught in a snare. Anguish will consume them before they die.
Whoever sets in motion a wicked plan will find that it rolls back over him, and he will not know from which direction it will arrive. 30 Wrath and anger, these also are abominations. A sinner will possess them.
Mockery and derision are of the arrogant, and vengeance will lie in wait for them, like a lion. 31 No está en esta traducción
