DRB Douay-Rheims (revisión Challoner), edición estadounidense de 1899 WEB World English Bible (clásica, con deuterocanónicos) PT1904 Texto Patriarcal 1904 (acentuado, edición de eBible) 1 Before the festival day of the pasch, Jesus knowing that his hour was come, that he should pass out of this world to the Father: having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them unto the end. 1 Now before the feast of the Passover, Jesus, knowing that his time had come that he would depart from this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
2 And when supper was done, (the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray him,) 2 During supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him,
3 Knowing that the Father had given him all things into his hands, and that he came from God, and goeth to God; 3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he came from God and was going to God,
4 He riseth from supper, and layeth aside his garments, and having taken a towel, girded himself. 4 arose from supper, and laid aside his outer garments. He took a towel and wrapped a towel around his waist.
5 After that, he putteth water into a basin, and began to wash the feet of the disciples, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. 5 Then he poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
6 He cometh therefore to Simon Peter. And Peter saith to him: Lord, dost thou wash my feet? 6 Then he came to Simon Peter. He said to him, “Lord, do you wash my feet?”
6 ἔρχεται οὖν πρὸς Σίμωνα Πέτρον, καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ ἐκεῖνος· Κύριε, σύ μου νίπτεις τοὺς πόδας;
7 Jesus answered, and said to him: What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. 7 Jesus answered him, “You don’t know what I am doing now, but you will understand later.”
8 Peter saith to him: Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him: If I wash thee not, thou shalt have no part with me. 8 Peter said to him, “You will never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I don’t wash you, you have no part with me.”
9 Simon Peter saith to him: Lord, not only my feet, but also my hands and my head. 9 Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”
10 Jesus saith to him: He that is washed, needeth not but to wash his feet, but is clean wholly. And you are clean, but not all. 10 Jesus said to him, “Someone who has bathed only needs to have his feet washed, but is completely clean. You are clean, but not all of you.”
11 For he knew who he was that would betray him; therefore he said: You are not all clean. 11 For he knew him who would betray him; therefore he said, “You are not all clean.”
12 Then after he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, being set down again, he said to them: Know you what I have done to you? 12 So when he had washed their feet, put his outer garment back on, and sat down again, he said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you?
12 Ὅτε οὖν ἔνιψε τοὺς πόδας αὐτῶν καὶ ἔλαβε τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ, ἀναπεσὼν πάλιν εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· γινώσκετε τί πεποίηκα ὑμῖν;
13 You call me Master, and Lord; and you say well, for so I am. 13 You call me, ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord.’ You say so correctly, for so I am.
14 If then I being your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 14 If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
15 For I have given you an example, that as I have done to you, so you do also. 15 For I have given you an example, that you should also do as I have done to you.
16 Amen, amen I say to you: The servant is not greater than his lord; neither is the apostle greater than he that sent him. 16 Most certainly I tell you, a servant is not greater than his lord, neither is one who is sent greater than he who sent him.
17 If you know these things, you shall be blessed if you do them. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
18 I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen. But that the scripture may be fulfilled: He that eateth bread with me, shall lift up his heel against me. 18 I don’t speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.’
19 At present I tell you, before it come to pass: that when it shall come to pass, you may believe that I am he. 19 From now on, I tell you before it happens, that when it happens, you may believe that I am he.
20 Amen, amen I say to you, he that receiveth whomsoever I send, receiveth me; and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me. 20 Most certainly I tell you, he who receives whomever I send, receives me; and he who receives me, receives him who sent me.”
21 When Jesus had said these things, he was troubled in spirit; and he testified, and said: Amen, amen I say to you, one of you shall betray me. 21 When Jesus had said this, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, “Most certainly I tell you that one of you will betray me.”
22 The disciples therefore looked one upon another, doubting of whom he spoke. 22 The disciples looked at one another, perplexed about whom he spoke.
23 Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved. 23 One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was at the table, leaning against Jesus’ chest.
24 Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, and said to him: Who is it of whom he speaketh? 24 Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, and said to him, “Tell us who it is of whom he speaks.”
25 He therefore, leaning on the breast of Jesus, saith to him: Lord, who is it? 25 He, leaning back, as he was, on Jesus’ chest, asked him, “Lord, who is it?”
25 ἐπιπεσὼν δὲ ἐκεῖνος ἐπὶ τὸ στῆθος τοῦ Ἰησοῦ λέγει αὐτῷ· Κύριε, τίς ἐστιν;
26 Jesus answered: He it is to whom I shall reach bread dipped. And when he had dipped the bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. 26 Jesus therefore answered, “It is he to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it.” So when he had dipped the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.
27 And after the morsel, Satan entered into him. And Jesus said to him: That which thou dost, do quickly. 27 After the piece of bread, then Satan entered into him. Then Jesus said to him, “What you do, do quickly.”
28 Now no man at the table knew to what purpose he said this unto him. 28 Now nobody at the table knew why he said this to him.
29 For some thought, because Judas had the purse, that Jesus had said to him: Buy those things which we have need of for the festival day: or that he should give something to the poor. 29 For some thought, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus said to him, “Buy what things we need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor.
30 He therefore having received the morsel, went out immediately. And it was night. 30 Therefore having received that morsel, he went out immediately. It was night.
31 When he therefore was gone out, Jesus said: Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him. 31 When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him.
32 If God be glorified in him, God also will glorify him in himself; and immediately will he glorify him. 32 If God has been glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and he will glorify him immediately.
33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You shall seek me; and as I said to the Jews: Whither I go you cannot come; so I say to you now. 33 Little children, I will be with you a little while longer. You will seek me, and as I said to the Jews, ‘Where I am going, you can’t come,’ so now I tell you.
34 A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
36 Simon Peter saith to him: Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered: Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow hereafter. 36 Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus answered, “Where I am going, you can’t follow now, but you will follow afterwards.”
37 Peter saith to him: Why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thee. 37 Peter said to him, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”
38 Jesus answered him: Wilt thou lay down thy life for me? Amen, amen I say to thee, the cock shall not crow, till thou deny me thrice. 38 Jesus answered him, “Will you lay down your life for me? Most certainly I tell you, the rooster won’t crow until you have denied me three times.
