Notas sobre este texto (1)

1 A psalm of David concerning the time he had to flee from his son Absalom. Lord, my enemies have become so many; so many are rebelling against me. 2 So many are telling me, “God can't save you!” Selah. 3 But you, Lord, are a shield protecting me. You give me victory; you hold my head high. 4 I cry out to the Lord for help, and he answers me from his holy mountain. Selah. 5 I lie down to sleep, and in the morning I wake up because the Lord takes care of me. 6 I'm not afraid of tens of thousands who surround me, people who are against me. 7 Stand up for me, Lord! Save me, my God! Hit all my enemies on the cheek; break the teeth of the wicked! 8 Salvation belongs to you, Lord; may you be a blessing to your people. Selah.

  1. Comentario Augustine of Hippo, Expositions on the Psalms (Psalm III)

The words, "I slept, and took rest; and rose, for the Lord will take me up," lead us to believe that this Psalm is to be understood as in the Person of Christ; for they sound more applicable to the Passion and Resurrection of our Lord, than to that history in which David's flight is described from the face of …

  2. Cita 3:5 Justin Martyr, First Apology (Chapters XXXIII–XXXVIII)

And I lay down and slept, and rose again, because the Lord sustained Me." And again, when He says, "They spake with their lips, they wagged the head, saying, Let Him deliver Himself." And that all these things happened to Christ at the hands of the Jews, you can ascertain.

  3. Cita 3:5 Irenaeus of Lyons, Against Heresies (Book IV, Chapter XXXII)

Those of them, again, who spoke of His having slumbered and taken sleep, and of His having risen again because the Lord sustained Him, and who enjoined the principalities of heaven to set open the everlasting doors, that the King of glory might go in, proclaimed beforehand His resurrection from the dead through the Father's power, and His reception into …

The one lifts up its head in its own glory; the other says to its God, "Thou art my glory, and the lifter up of mine head." In the one, the princes and the nations it subdues are ruled by the love of ruling; in the other, the princes and the subjects serve one another in love, the latter obeying, …

  5. Cita 3:5 Augustine of Hippo, The City of God (Book XVII, Chapters 17–18)

For what else is it that is sung in His person in the 3d Psalm, "I laid me down and took a sleep, [and] I awaked, for the Lord shall sustain me?" Is there perchance any one so stupid as to believe that the prophet chose to point it out to us as something great that He had slept and …
