1 Ese mismo año, al comienzo del reinado de Sedequías, rey de Judá, en el quinto mes del cuarto año, el profeta Hananías, hijo de Azur, de Gabaón, habló a Jeremías en el templo del Señor, ante los sacerdotes y todo el pueblo:
1 That same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, Hananiah the son of Azzur, the prophet, who was of Gibeon, spoke to me in Yahweh’s house, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying,
2 «Estas son las palabras del Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: Yo he roto el yugo del rey de Babilonia.
2 “Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says, ‘I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
3 Dentro de dos años devolveré a este lugar todos los utensilios del templo del Señor que Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, se llevó de aquí a Babilonia.
3 Within two full years I will bring again into this place all the vessels of Yahweh’s house that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon.
4 Haré volver a este lugar a Jeconías, hijo de Joacim, rey de Judá, y a todos los prisioneros de Judá que fueron a Babilonia, dice el Señor, porque haré que se rompa el yugo del rey de Babilonia».
4 I will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah, who went to Babylon,’ says Yahweh; ‘for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.’”
5 Entonces el profeta Jeremías respondió al profeta Hananías ante los sacerdotes y todo el pueblo que había venido al templo del Señor.
5 Then the prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people who stood in Yahweh’s house,
6 El profeta Jeremías dijo: «¡Así sea! Que el Señor lo haga. Que cumpla las palabras que has dicho y haga volver de Babilonia a este lugar los utensilios del templo del Señor y a todos los que fueron llevados prisioneros.
6 even the prophet Jeremiah said, “Amen! May Yahweh do so. May Yahweh perform your words which you have prophesied, to bring again the vessels of Yahweh’s house, and all those who are captives, from Babylon to this place.
7 Pero escucha esta palabra que te digo a ti y a todo el pueblo:
7 Nevertheless listen now to this word that I speak in your ears, and in the ears of all the people:
8 Desde tiempos antiguos, los profetas que hubo antes de ti y de mí anunciaron guerra, destrucción y enfermedad a muchos países y grandes reinos.
8 The prophets who have been before me and before you of old prophesied against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, of evil, and of pestilence.
9 En cuanto al profeta que anuncia paz, cuando se cumplan sus palabras se sabrá que el Señor lo ha enviado».
9 As for the prophet who prophesies of peace, when the word of the prophet happens, then the prophet will be known, that Yahweh has truly sent him.”
10 El profeta Hananías quitó el yugo del cuello del profeta Jeremías y lo rompió con sus manos.
10 Then Hananiah the prophet took the bar from off the prophet Jeremiah’s neck, and broke it.
11 Ante todo el pueblo, Hananías dijo: «El Señor ha dicho: Así haré que se rompa el yugo del rey de Babilonia que está sobre el cuello de todas las naciones, dentro de dos años». Entonces el profeta Jeremías se fue.
11 Hananiah spoke in the presence of all the people, saying, “Yahweh says: ‘Even so I will break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from off the neck of all the nations within two full years.’” Then the prophet Jeremiah went his way.
12 Después de que el profeta Hananías rompió el yugo que estaba sobre el cuello del profeta Jeremías, vino la palabra del Señor a Jeremías:
12 Then Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, after Hananiah the prophet had broken the bar from off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, saying,
13 Ve y dile a Hananías: Esto ha dicho el Señor: Tú has roto yugos de madera, pero en su lugar yo haré yugos de hierro.
13 “Go, and tell Hananiah, saying, ‘Yahweh says, “You have broken the bars of wood, but you have made in their place bars of iron.”
14 Pues el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, ha dicho: He puesto un yugo de hierro sobre el cuello de todas estas naciones, para que sirvan a Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia. Le servirán, y también le he dado los animales del campo.
14 For Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel says, “I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they will serve him. I have also given him the animals of the field.”’”
15 El profeta Jeremías dijo al profeta Hananías: «Escucha, Hananías. El Señor no te envió, pero tú haces que este pueblo confíe en mentiras.
15 Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, “Listen, Hananiah! Yahweh has not sent you, but you make this people trust in a lie.
16 Por eso ha dicho el Señor: Te quitaré de la faz de la tierra. Este año morirás, porque has hablado contra el Señor».
16 Therefore Yahweh says, ‘Behold, I will send you away from off the surface of the earth. This year you will die, because you have spoken rebellion against Yahweh.’”
17 El profeta Hananías murió ese mismo año, en el séptimo mes.
17 So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.
