1 La palabra del Señor que vino al profeta Jeremías acerca de los filisteos, antes del ataque del faraón contra Gaza.
1 PALABRA de Jehová que fué á Jeremías profeta acerca de los Palestinos, antes que Faraón hiriese á Gaza.
1 Yahweh’s word that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh struck Gaza.
2 Esto ha dicho el Señor: Del norte suben aguas que serán una corriente desbordada. Inundarán la tierra y todo lo que hay en ella, la ciudad y sus habitantes. Los seres humanos gritarán y todo el pueblo del país clamará de dolor.
2 Así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí que suben aguas del aquilón, y tornaránse en torrente, é inundarán la tierra y su plenitud, ciudades y moradores de ellas; y los hombres clamarán, y aullará todo morador de la tierra.
2 Yahweh says: “Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and will become an overflowing stream, and will overflow the land and all that is therein, the city and those who dwell therein. The men will cry, and all the inhabitants of the land will wail.
3 Al oír las pisadas de sus caballos de guerra, el avance de sus carros y el estruendo de sus ruedas, los padres no pensarán en sus hijos, porque sus manos están débiles.
3 Por el sonido de las uñas de sus fuertes, por el alboroto de sus carros, por el estruendo de sus ruedas, los padres no miraron á los hijos por la flaqueza de las manos;
3 At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong ones, at the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers don’t look back for their children because their hands are so feeble,
4 Llega el día que destruirá a todos los filisteos y quitará a Tiro y Sidón sus últimos ayudantes. El Señor destruirá a los filisteos, a los que quedan de la tierra costera de Caftor.
4 A causa del día que viene para destrucción de todos los Palestinos, para talar á Tiro, y á Sidón, á todo ayudador que quedó vivo: porque Jehová destruirá á los Palestinos, al resto de la isla de Caphtor.
4 because of the day that comes to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper who remains; for Yahweh will destroy the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Caphtor.
5 Han cortado el cabello de la cabeza de Gaza. Ascalón ha quedado reducida a nada. Los últimos anaquitas se hacen heridas profundas.
5 Sobre Gaza vino mesadura, Ascalón fué cortada, y el resto de su valle: ¿hasta cuándo te arañarás?
5 Baldness has come on Gaza; Ashkelon is brought to nothing. You remnant of their valley, how long will you cut yourself?
6 Espada del Señor, ¿hasta cuándo seguirás sin descansar? Vuelve a tu vaina. Quédate en paz y en silencio.
6 Oh espada de Jehová, ¿hasta cuándo no reposarás? Métete en tu vaina, reposa y sosiega.
6 “‘You sword of Yahweh, how long will it be before you are quiet? Put yourself back into your scabbard; rest, and be still.’
7 ¿Cómo puede quedarse quieta si el Señor le ha dado órdenes? Él le ha mandado ir contra Ascalón y la tierra costera.
7 ¿Cómo reposarás? pues que Jehová lo ha enviado contra Ascalón, y á la ribera de la mar, allí lo puso.
7 “How can you be quiet, since Yahweh has given you a command? Against Ashkelon, and against the seashore, there he has appointed it.”
