1 Tada dođoše kćeri Salpada, sina Ofera sina Galada sina Mahira sina Manasijinog, od plemena Manasije sina Josifovog, a imena im behu Mala, Nuja, Egla, Melha i Tersa.
1 Y LAS hijas de Salphaad, hijo de Hepher, hijo de Galaad, hijo de Machîr, hijo de Manasés, de las familias de Manasés, hijo de José, los nombres de las cuales eran Maala, y Noa, y Hogla, y Milca, y Tirsa, llegaron;
5 I iznese Mojsije stvar njihovu pred Gospoda.
6 A Gospod reče Mojsiju govoreći:
6 Y Jehová respondió á Moisés, diciendo:
7 Pravo govore, kćeri Salpadove; podaj im pravo da imaju nasledstvo među braćom oca svog, i prinesi nasledstvo oca njihovog na njih.
8 A sinovima Izrailjevim kaži i reci: Kad ko umre, a nema sina, onda prenesite nasledstvo njegovo na kćer njegovu;
9 ako li ni kćeri nema, onda podajte nasledstvo njegovo braći njegovoj;
10 ako li ni braće nema, onda podajte nasledstvo njegovo braći oca njegovog;
I to neka bude sinovima Izrailjevim zakon za suđenje, kako zapovedi Gospod Mojsiju.
12 Još reče Gospod Mojsiju: Iziđi na goru ovu avarimsku, i vidi zemlju koju sam dao sinovima Izrailjevim.
15 I reče Mojsije Gospodu govoreći:
15 Entonces respondió Moisés á Jehová, diciendo:
16 Gospode Bože duhovima i svakom telu, postavi čoveka nad ovim zborom,
18 A Gospod reče Mojsiju: Uzmi k sebi Isusa sina Navinog, čoveka u kome je duh moj, i metni ruku svoju na nj,
18 Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: Toma á Josué hijo de Nun, varón en el cual hay espíritu, y pondrás tu mano sobre él;
19 i izvedi ga pred Eleazara sveštenika i pred sav zbor, i podaj mu zapovesti pred njima.
21 I neka staje pred Eleazara sveštenika da ga pita za sud Urim pred Gospodom; po zapovesti Njegovoj neka polaze i po zapovesti Njegovoj neka dolaze on i svi sinovi Izrailjevi s njim i sav zbor.
22 I učini Mojsije kako mu zapovedi Gospod; i uzevši Isusa postavi ga pred Eleazara sveštenika i pred sav zbor.
23 I metnu ruke svoje na nj, i dade mu zapovesti, kako beše zapovedio Gospod preko Mojsija.

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).

  1. Quotes verse 27:18 Irenaeus of Lyons, Against Heresies (Book V, Chapter XXVII)

    XIX. "Take unto thee Joshua ('Iesoun) the son of Nun." For it was proper that Moses should lead the people out of Egypt, but that Jesus (Joshua) should lead them into the inheritance.

  2. Quotes verse 27:23 Irenaeus of Lyons, Against Heresies (Book V, Chapter XXVII)

    XX. "And he laid his hands upon him." The countenance of Joshua was also glorified by the imposition of the hands of Moses, but not to the same degree [as that of Moses].
