1 And the angel that talked with me returned, and awakened me, as when a man is awakened out of his sleep.
1 The angel who talked with me came again and wakened me, as a man who is wakened out of his sleep.
2 And he said to me, What seest thou? And I said, I have seen, and behold a candlestick all of gold, and its bowl upon it, and seven lamps upon it, and seven oil funnels to the lamps upon it:
2 He said to me, “What do you see?” I said, “I have seen, and behold, a lamp stand all of gold, with its bowl on the top of it, and its seven lamps on it; there are seven pipes to each of the lamps which are on the top of it;
3 and two olive trees above it, one on the right of the bowl, and one on the left.
3 and two olive trees by it, one on the right side of the bowl, and the other on the left side of it.”
4 And I inquired, and spoke to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these things, [my] lord?
4 I answered and spoke to the angel who talked with me, saying, “What are these, my lord?”
5 And the angel that talked with me answered, and spoke to me, saying, Knowest thou not what these things are? And I said, No, [my] lord.
5 Then the angel who talked with me answered me, “Don’t you know what these are?” I said, “No, my lord.”
6 And he answered and spoke to me, saying, This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, saying, Not by mighty power, nor by strength, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord Almighty.
6 Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, “This is Yahweh’s word to Zerubbabel, saying, ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says Yahweh of Armies.
7 Who art thou, the great mountain before Zerubbabel, that thou shouldest prosper? whereas I will bring out the stone of the inheritance, the grace of it the equal of [my] grace.
7 Who are you, great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you are a plain; and he will bring out the capstone with shouts of ‘Grace, grace, to it!’”
8 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
8 Moreover Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,
9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands shall finish it: and thou shalt know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to thee.
9 “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house. His hands shall also finish it; and you will know that Yahweh of Armies has sent me to you.
10 For who has despised the small days? surely they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet of tin in the hand of Zerubbabel: these are the seven eyes that look upon all the earth.
10 Indeed, who despises the day of small things? For these seven shall rejoice, and shall see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. These are Yahweh’s eyes, which run back and forth through the whole earth.”
11 And I answered, and said to him, What are these two olive trees, which are on the right and left hand of the candlestick?
11 Then I asked him, “What are these two olive trees on the right side of the lamp stand and on the left side of it?”
12 And I asked the second time, and said to him, What are the two branches of the olive trees that are by the side of the two golden pipes that pour into and communicate with the golden oil funnels?
12 I asked him the second time, “What are these two olive branches, which are beside the two golden spouts that pour the golden oil out of themselves?”
13 And he said to me, Knowest thou not what these are? and I said, No, [my] lord.
13 He answered me, “Don’t you know what these are?” I said, “No, my lord.”
14 And he said, These are the two anointed ones [that] stand by the Lord of the whole earth.
14 Then he said, “These are the two anointed ones who stand by the Lord of the whole earth.”

  1. Cita 4:10 Cyril of Jerusalem, Catechetical Lectures (Lecture VI)

Some again dared to say that He has seven eyes, because it is written, seven eyes of the Lord looking upon the whole earth.
