Brenton Septuaginta inglesa de Brenton WEB World English Bible (clásica, con deuterocanónicos) 1 If thou be made the master [of a feast], lift not thyself up, but be among them as one of the rest; take diligent care for them, and so sit down. 1 He who keeps the law multiplies offerings. He who heeds the commandments sacrifices a peace offering.
And when thou hast done all thy office, take thy place, that thou mayest be merry with them, and receive a crown for thy well ordering of the feast. 2 He who returns a kindness offers fine flour. He who gives alms sacrifices a thank offering.
Speak, thou that art the elder, for it becometh thee, but with sound judgment; and hinder not music. 3 To depart from wickedness pleases the Lord. To depart from unrighteousness is an atoning sacrifice.
Pour not out words where there is a musician, and shew not forth wisdom out of time. 4 See that you don’t appear in the presence of the Lord empty.
A concert of music in a banquet of wine is as a signet of carbuncle set in gold. 5 For all these things are done because of the commandment.
As a signet of an emerald set in a work of gold, so is the melody of music with pleasant wine. 6 The offering of the righteous enriches the altar. The sweet fragrance of it is before the Most High.
Speak, young man, if there be need of thee: and yet scarcely when thou art twice asked. 7 The sacrifice of a righteous man is acceptable. It won’t be forgotten.
Let thy speech be short, comprehending much in few words; be as one that knoweth and yet holdeth his tongue. 8 Glorify the Lord with generosity. Don’t reduce the first fruits of your hands.
If thou be among great men, make not thyself equal with them; and when ancient men are in place, use not many words. 9 In every gift show a cheerful countenance, And dedicate your tithe with gladness.
Before the thunder goeth lightning; and before a shamefaced man shall go favour. 10 Give to the Most High according as he has given. As your hand has found, give generously.
Rise up betimes, and be not the last; but get thee home without delay. 11 For the Lord repays, and he will repay you sevenfold.
There take thy pastime, and do what thou wilt: but sin not by proud speech. 12 Don’t plan to bribe him with gifts, for he will not receive them. Don’t set your mind on an unrighteous sacrifice, For the Lord is the judge, and with him is no respect of persons.
And for these things bless him that made thee, and hath replenished thee with his good things. 13 He won’t accept any person against a poor man. He will listen to the prayer of him who is wronged.
Whoso feareth the Lord will receive his discipline; and they that seek him early shall find favour. 14 He will in no way despise the supplication of the fatherless or the widow, when she pours out her tale.
He that seeketh the law shall be filled therewith: but the hypocrite will be offended thereat. 15 Don’t the tears of the widow run down her cheek? Isn’t her cry against him who has caused them to fall?
They that fear the Lord shall find judgment, and shall kindle justice as a light. 16 He who serves God according to his good pleasure will be accepted. His supplication will reach to the clouds.
A sinful man will not be reproved, but findeth an excuse according to his will. 17 The prayer of the humble pierces the clouds. until it comes near, he will not be comforted. He won’t depart until the Most High visits and he judges righteously and executes judgment.
A man of counsel will be considerate; but a strange and proud man is not daunted with fear, even when of himself he hath done without counsel. 18 And the Lord will not be slack, neither will he be patient toward them, until he has crushed the loins of the unmerciful. He will repay vengeance to the heathen until he has taken away the multitude of the arrogant and broken in pieces the sceptres of the unrighteous,
Do nothing without advice; and when thou hast once done, repent not. 19 until he has rendered to every man according to his deeds, and repaid the works of men according to their plans, until he has judged the cause of his people, and he will make them rejoice in his mercy.
Go not in a way wherein thou mayest fall, and stumble not among the stones. 20 Mercy is as welcome in the time of his affliction, as clouds of rain in the time of drought.
