1 And it comes to pass, in the eleventh year, in the third [month], on the first of the month, a word of YHWH has been to me, saying,

1 Y ACONTECIÓ en el año undécimo, en el [mes] tercero, al primero del mes, que fué á mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

2 “Son of man, say to Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude: To whom have you been like in your greatness?

2 Hijo del hombre, di á Faraón rey de Egipto, y á su pueblo: ¿A quién te comparaste en tu grandeza?

3 Behold, Asshur, a cedar in Lebanon, || Beautiful in branch, and shading bough, and high in stature, || And its foliage has been between thickets.

3 He aquí era el Asirio cedro en el Líbano, hermoso en ramas, y umbroso con sus ramos, y de grande altura, y su copa estaba entre densas ramas.

4 Waters have made it great, || The deep has exalted him with its flowings, || Going around its planting, || And it has sent forth its conduits to all trees of the field.

4 Las aguas lo hicieron crecer, encumbrólo el abismo: sus ríos iban alrededor de su pie, y á todos los árboles del campo enviaba sus corrientes.

5 Therefore his stature has been higher than all trees of the field, || And his boughs are multiplied, and his branches are long, || Because of many waters in his shooting forth.

5 Por tanto, se encumbró su altura sobre todos los árboles del campo, y multiplicáronse sus ramos, y á causa de las muchas aguas se alargaron sus ramas que había echado.

6 Every bird of the heavens has made a nest in his boughs, || And every beast of the field has brought forth under his branches, || And all great nations dwell in his shade.

6 En sus ramas hacían nido todas las aves del cielo, y debajo de su ramaje parían todas las bestias del campo, y á su sombra habitaban muchas gentes.

7 And he is beautiful in his greatness, || In the length of his thin shoots, || For his root has been by great waters.

7 Hízose, pues, hermoso en su grandeza con la extensión de sus ramas; porque su raíz estaba junto á muchas aguas.

8 Cedars have not hid him in the garden of God, || Firs have not been like to his boughs, || And plane-trees have not been as his branches, || No tree in the garden of God has been like to him in his beauty,

8 Los cedros no lo cubrieron en el huerto de Dios: las hayas no fueron semejantes á sus ramas, ni los castaños fueron semejantes á sus ramos: ningún árbol en el huerto de Dios fué semejante á él en su hermosura.

9 I have made him beautiful in the multitude of his thin shoots, || And all trees of Eden that [are] in the garden of God envy him.

9 Hícelo hermoso con la multitud de sus ramas; y todos los árboles de Edén, que estaban en el huerto de Dios, tuvieron de él envidia.

10 Therefore, thus said Lord YHWH: Because that you have been high in stature, || And he yields his foliage between thickets, || And his heart is high in his haughtiness,

10 Por tanto, así dijo el Señor Jehová: Por cuanto te encumbraste en altura, y puso su cumbre entre densas ramas, y su corazón se elevó con su altura,

11 I give him into the hand of a god of nations, || He deals severely with him, || In his wickedness I have cast him out.

11 Yo lo entregaré en mano del fuerte de las gentes, que de cierto le manejará: por su impiedad lo he arrojado.

12 And strangers cut him off, || The terrible of nations, and they leave him, || His thin shoots have fallen on the mountains and in all valleys, || And his boughs are broken at all streams of the land, || And all peoples of the land go down from his shade, and they leave him.

12 Y le cortarán extraños, los fuertes de las gentes, y lo abandonarán: sus ramas caerán sobre los montes y por todos los valles, y por todas las arroyadas de la tierra serán quebrados sus ramos; é iránse de su sombra todos los pueblos de la tierra, y lo dejarán.

13 Every bird of the heavens dwells on his ruin, || And all beasts of the field have been on his boughs,

13 Sobre su ruina habitarán todas las aves del cielo, y sobre su ramas estarán todas las bestias del campo:

14 In order that none of the trees of the waters || May become haughty because of their stature, || Nor give their foliage between thickets, || Nor any drinking waters stand up to them in their haughtiness, || For all of them are given up to death, || To the lower earth, || In the midst of the sons of men, || To those going down to the pit.

14 Para que no se eleven en su altura los árboles todos de las aguas, ni levanten su cumbre entre las espesuras, ni en sus ramas se paren por su altura todos los que beben aguas: porque todos serán entregados á muerte, á la tierra baja, en medio de los hijos de los hombres, con los que descienden á la huesa.

15 Thus said Lord YHWH: I have caused mourning in the day of his going down to Sheol, || I have covered the deep over him, and diminish its flowings, || And many waters are restrained, || And I make Lebanon black for him, || And all trees of the field [have been] a covering for him.

15 Así ha dicho el Señor Jehová: El día que descendió á la sepultura, hice hacer luto, hice cubrir por él el abismo, y detuve sus ríos, y las muchas aguas fueron detenidas: y al Líbano cubrí de tinieblas por él, y todos los árboles del campo se desmayaron.

16 I have caused nations to shake at the sound of his fall, || In My causing him to go down to Sheol, || With those going down to the pit, || And all trees of Eden are comforted in the lower earth, || The choice and good of Lebanon—All drinking waters.

16 Del estruendo de su caída hice temblar las gentes, cuando les hice descender á la fosa con todos los que descienden á la sepultura; y todos los árboles de Edén escogidos, y los mejores del Líbano, todos los que beben aguas, tomaron consolación en la tierra baja.

17 Those with him have also gone down to Sheol, || To the pierced of the sword, || And—his arm—they dwelt in his shade in the midst of nations.

17 También ellos descendieron con él á la fosa, con los muertos á cuchillo, los que fueron su brazo, los que estuvieron á su sombra en medio de las gentes.

18 To whom have you been thus like, || In glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? And you have been brought down with the trees of Eden, || To the lower earth, || You lie in the midst of the uncircumcised, || With the pierced of the sword. This [is] Pharaoh, and all his multitude, || A declaration of Lord YHWH!”

18 ¿A quién te has comparado así en gloria y en grandeza entre los árboles de Edén? Pues derribado serás con los árboles de Edén en la tierra baja: entre los incircuncisos yacerás, con los muertos á cuchillo. Este es Faraón y todo su pueblo, dice el Señor Jehová.
