1 A SONG OF THE ASCENTS. BY DAVID. I have rejoiced in those saying to me, “We go to the house of YHWH.”
1 A Song of Ascents. By David. I was glad when they said to me, “Let’s go to Yahweh’s house!”
2 Our feet have been standing in your gates, O Jerusalem!
2 Nuestros pies estuvieron en tus puertas, oh Jerusalem;
2 Our feet are standing within your gates, Jerusalem!
3 Jerusalem—the built one—[Is] as a city that is joined to itself together.
3 Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together,
4 For there tribes have gone up, || Tribes of YAH, companies of Israel, || To give thanks to the Name of YHWH.
4 where the tribes go up, even Yah’s tribes, according to an ordinance for Israel, to give thanks to Yahweh’s name.
5 For there thrones of judgment have sat, || Thrones of the house of David.
5 For there are set thrones for judgment, the thrones of David’s house.
6 Ask [for] the peace of Jerusalem, || Those loving you are at rest.
6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Those who love you will prosper.
7 Peace is in your bulwark, rest in your high places,
7 Haya paz en tu antemuro, [y] descanso en tus palacios.
7 Peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces.
8 For the sake of my brothers and my companions, || Please let me speak, “Peace [be] in you.”
8 For my brothers’ and companions’ sakes, I will now say, “Peace be within you.”
9 For the sake of the house of our God YHWH, || I seek good for you!
9 For the sake of the house of Yahweh our God, I will seek your good.
