LSV Literal Standard Version
RV1909 Reina-Valera 1909
1 TO THE OVERSEER. AN INSTRUCTION OF DAVID, IN THE COMING IN OF DOEG THE EDOMITE, AND HE DECLARES TO SAUL AND SAYS TO HIM, “DAVID CAME TO THE HOUSE OF AHIMELECH.” Why do you boast in evil, O mighty one? The kindness of God [is] all the day.
2 Your tongue devises mischiefs, || Like a sharp razor, working deceit.
2 Agravios maquina tu lengua: como navaja amolada hace engaño.
3 You have loved evil rather than good, || Lying, than speaking righteousness. Selah.
(Selah.)
4 You have loved all devouring words, || O you deceitful tongue.
4 Has amado toda suerte de palabras perniciosas, engañosa lengua.
5 Also—God breaks you down forever, || Takes you, and pulls you out of the tent, || And He has uprooted you || Out of the land of the living. Selah.
(Selah.)
6 And the righteous see, || And fear, and laugh at him.
7 “Behold, the man who does not make God his strong place, || And trusts in the abundance of his riches, || He is strong in his mischiefs.”
8 And I, as a green olive in the house of God, || I have trusted in the kindness of God, || For all time and forever,
9 I thank You for all time, because You have done [it], || And I wait [on] Your Name for [it is] good before Your saints!

  1. Comentario Augustine of Hippo, Expositions on the Psalms (Psalm LI)

Neither must this multitude's throng be defrauded, nor their infirmity burthened. Silence we ask, and quiet, in order that our voice, after yesterday's labour, be able with some little vigour to last out.

  2. Cita 52:8 Augustine of Hippo, The City of God (Book XV, Chapter 20)

For he prefigures that society of men which says, "But I am like a green olive-tree in the house of God: I have trusted in the mercy of God." But let him not seek the empty honors of a famous name upon earth, for "Blessed is the man that maketh the name of the Lord his trust, and respecteth not …
