3 [A saber], que por revelación me fué declarado el misterio, como antes he escrito en breve;
5 koja se u drugim naraštajima ne kaza sinovima čovečijim, kako se sad otkri svetim Njegovim apostolima i prorocima Duhom Svetim;
6 da neznabošci kroz jevanđelje postanu sunaslednici i sutelesnici i zajedničari u obećanju Njegovom u Hristu Isusu,
9 i da otkrijem svima šta je služba tajne od postanja sveta sakrivene u Bogu, koji je sazdao sve kroz Isusa Hrista;
12 u kome imamo slobodu i pristup u nadi verom Njegovom.
14 Toga radi priklanjam kolena svoja pred Ocem Gospoda našeg Isusa Hrista,
17 da se Hristos useli verom u srca vaša, da budete u ljubavi ukorenjeni i utemeljeni;
21 Onome slava u crkvi po Hristu Isusu u sve naraštaje va vek veka. Amin.

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).

    We relate how it came to pass,--she leapeth for joy, and triumpheth, and blesseth Thee, who art "able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think; for she perceived Thee to have given her more for me than she used to ask by her pitiful and most doleful groanings.
