1 Psalam Davidov.
GLORIFICARTE he, oh Jehová; porque me has ensalzado, y no hiciste á mis enemigos alegrarse de mí.
2 Gospode, Bože moj! Zavikah k Tebi, i iscelio si me.
2 Jehová Dios mío, á ti clamé, y me sanaste.
3 Gospode!
4 Pojte Gospodu, sveci Njegovi, i slavite sveto ime Njegovo.
6 I ja rekoh u dobru svom: Neću posrnuti doveka.
6 Y dije yo en mi prosperidad: no seré jamás conmovido;
7 Ti htede, Gospode, te gora moja stajaše tvrdo. Ti odvrati lice svoje, i ja se smetoh.
8 Tada Tebe, Gospode, zazivah, i Gospoda molih:
8 A ti, oh Jehová, clamaré; y al Señor suplicaré.
10 Čuj, Gospode, i smiluj se na me; Gospode budi mi pomoćnik.”
11 I Ti promeni plač moj na radost, skide s mene vreću, opasa me veseljem.
12 Zato će Ti pevati slava moja i neće umuknuti; Gospode, Bože moj! Doveka ću Te hvaliti.
12 Por tanto á ti cantaré, gloria [mía], y no estaré callado. Jehová Dios mío, te alabaré para siempre.

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).

  1. Quotes verse 30:11 Augustine of Hippo, Homilies on the First Epistle of John (Homily IX)

"Thou hast turned for me my mourning into joy: Thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; to the end that my glory may sing to thee, and that I be not pricked." What is this, "That I be not pricked?" That there be not that which shall goad my conscience.
