1 Psalam Davidov. 4 Pokaži mi, Gospode, puteve svoje, nauči me hoditi stazama Tvojim. 5 Uputi me istini svojoj, i nauči me; jer si Ti Bog spasenja mog, Tebi se nadam svaki dan. 13 Duša će njegova u dobru počivati, i seme će njegovo vladati zemljom. 16 Pogledaj me i smiluj se na me, jer sam inokosan i nevoljnik. 17 Nek se raširi stisnuto srce moje, iz teskobe moje izvadi me. 18 Vidi jade moje i muku moju, i oprosti mi sve grehove moje. 19 Pogledaj neprijatelje moje kako ih je mnogo i kakvom me pakosnom nenavišću nenavide. 21 Bezazlenost i pravda neka me sačuva, jer se u Tebe uzdam. 22 Izbavi, Bože, Izrailja od svih nevolja njegovih.

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).

And Lazarus again for the same cause enjoyed remission, having in this life suffered innumerable …
