Tyndale Tyndale New Testament (1534) WEB World English Bible (Classic, with Deuterocanon) 1 And he sayd also vnto his disciples. Ther was a certayne rych man which had a stewarde that was acused vnto him that he had wasted his goodes.
1 He also said to his disciples, “There was a certain rich man who had a manager. An accusation was made to him that this man was wasting his possessions.
2 And he called him and sayd vnto him: How is it that I heare this of the? Geve a comptes of thy steward shippe: For thou mayste be no longer stewarde.
2 He called him, and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.’
3 The stewarde sayd with in him selfe: what shall I do? for my master will take awaye from me the stewarde shippe. I cannot digge and to begge I am ashamed. Cavar, no puedo; mendigar, tengo vergüenza.
3 “The manager said within himself, ‘What will I do, seeing that my lord is taking away the management position from me? I don’t have strength to dig. I am ashamed to beg.
4 I woote what to do that when I am put out of the stewardshippe they maye receave me into their houses.
4 I know what I will do, so that when I am removed from management, they may receive me into their houses.’
5 Then called he all his masters detters and sayd vnto the fyrst: how moche owest thou vnto my master?
5 Calling each one of his lord’s debtors to him, he said to the first, ‘How much do you owe to my lord?’
6 And he sayd: an hondred tonnes of oyle. And he sayd to him: take thy bill and syt doune quickly and wryte fiftie. 6 Y él dijo: Cien barriles de aceite. Y le dijo: Toma tu obligación, y siéntate presto, y escribe cincuenta.
6 He said, ‘A hundred batos of oil.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’
7 Then sayd he to another: what owest thou? And he sayde: an hondred quarters of wheate. He sayd to him: Take thy bill and write foure scoore. 7 Después dijo á otro: ¿Y tú, cuánto debes? Y él dijo: Cien coros de trigo. Y él le dijo: Toma tu obligación, y escribe ochenta.
7 Then he said to another, ‘How much do you owe?’ He said, ‘A hundred cors of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’
8 And the lorde comended the vniust stewarde because he had done wysly. For the chyldren of this worlde are in their kynde wyser then the chyldren of lyght.
8 “His lord commended the dishonest manager because he had done wisely, for the children of this world are, in their own generation, wiser than the children of the light.
9 And I saye also vnto you: make you frendes of the wicked mammon that when ye shall departe they may receave you into everlastinge habitacions.
9 I tell you, make for yourselves friends by means of unrighteous mammon, so that when you fail, they may receive you into the eternal tents.
10 He that is faithfull in that which is leste the same is faithfull in moche. And he that is vnfaithfull in the least: is vnfaithfull also in moche.
10 He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much. He who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.
11 So then yf ye have not ben faithfull in the wicked mamon? who will beleve you in that which is true?
11 If therefore you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
12 And yf ye have not bene faithfull in another manes busines: who shall geve you youre awne?
12 If you have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?
13 No servaunt can serve .ii. masters for other he shall hate ye one and love ye other or els he shall lene to the one and despyse the other. Ye can not serve God and mammon.
13 No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will hold to one and despise the other. You aren’t able to serve God and Mammon.”
14 All these thinges herde the pharises also which were coveteous and they mocked him.
14 The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they scoffed at him.
15 And he sayd vnto them: Ye are they which iustifie youre selves before me: but God knoweth youre hertes. For ye which is highlie estemed amonge me is abhominable in the sight of god.
15 He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.
16 The lawe and the Prophetes raygned vntyll the tyme of Iohn: and sence that tyme the kyngdom of God is preached and every man stryveth to goo in. 16 La ley y los profetas hasta Juan: desde entonces el reino de Dios es anunciado, y quienquiera se esfuerza [á entrar] en él.
16 “The law and the prophets were until John. From that time the Good News of God’s Kingdom is preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.
17 Soner shall heven and erth perisshe then one tytle of the lawe shall perisshe.
17 But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tiny stroke of a pen in the law to fall.
18 Whosoever forsaketh his wyfe and marieth another breaketh matrimony. And every man which marieth her that is devorsed from her husbande committeth advoutry also.
18 “Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery. He who marries one who is divorced from a husband commits adultery.
19 Ther was a certayne ryche man which was clothed in purple and fyne bysse and fared deliciously every daye.
19 “Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, living in luxury every day.
20 And ther was a certayne begger named Lazarus whiche laye at his gate full of soores 20 Había también un mendigo llamado Lázaro, el cual estaba echado á la puerta de él, lleno de llagas,
20 A certain beggar, named Lazarus, was taken to his gate, full of sores,
21 desyringe to be refresshed with the cromes whiche fell from the ryche manes borde. Neverthelesse the dogges came and licked his soores.
21 and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. Yes, even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 And that fortuned that the begger dyed and was caried by the angelles into Abrahams bosome. The riche man also died and was buried.
22 The beggar died, and he was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.
23 And beinge in hell in tormentes he lyfte vp his eyes and sawe Abraham a farre of and Lazarus in his bosome 23 Y en el infierno alzó sus ojos, estando en los tormentos, y vió á Abraham de lejos, y á Lázaro en su seno.
23 In Hades, he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom.
24 and he cryed and sayd: father Abraham have mercy on me and sende Lazarus that he maye dippe the tippe of his fynger in water and cole my tonge: for I am tourmented in this flame.
24 He cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue! For I am in anguish in this flame.’
25 But Abraham sayd vnto him Sonne remembre that thou in thy lyfe tyme receavedst thy pleasure and contrary wyse Lazarus payne. Now therfore is he comforted and thou art punysshed.
25 “But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in the same way, bad things. But here he is now comforted and you are in anguish.
26 Beyonde all this bitwene you and vs ther is a greate space set so that they which wolde goo from thence to you cannot: nether maye come from thence to vs. 26 Y además de todo esto, una grande sima está constituída entre nosotros y vosotros, que los que quisieren pasar de aquí á vosotros, no pueden, ni de allá pasar acá.
26 Besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that those who want to pass from here to you are not able, and that no one may cross over from there to us.’
27 Then he sayd: I praye the therfore father send him to my fathers housse. 27 Y dijo: Ruégote pues, padre, que le envíes á la casa de mi padre;
27 “He said, ‘I ask you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house—
28 For I have fyve brethren: for to warne the left they also come into this place of tourment.
28 for I have five brothers—that he may testify to them, so they won’t also come into this place of torment.’
29 Abraham sayd vnto him: they have Moses and the Prophetes let them heare them.
29 “But Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.’
30 And he sayd: naye father Abraham but yf one came vnto the from the ded they wolde repent.
30 “He said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’
31 He sayd vnto him: If they heare not Moses and the prophetes nether will they beleve though one roose from deeth agayne.
31 “He said to him, ‘If they don’t listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one rises from the dead.’”
