BBE Biblia en inglés básico WEB World English Bible (clásica, con deuterocanónicos) 1 In the third month after the children of Israel went out from Egypt, on the same day, they came into the waste land of Sinai.
1 In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that same day they came into the wilderness of Sinai.
2 And when they had gone away from Rephidim and had come into the waste land of Sinai, they put up their tents in the waste land before the mountain: there Israel put up its tents.
2 When they had departed from Rephidim, and had come to the wilderness of Sinai, they encamped in the wilderness; and there Israel encamped before the mountain.
3 And Moses went up to God, and the voice of the Lord came to him from the mountain, saying, Say to the family of Jacob, and give word to the children of Israel: 3 Y Moisés subió á Dios; y Jehová lo llamó desde el monte, diciendo: Así dirás á la casa de Jacob, y denunciarás á los hijos de Israel:
3 Moses went up to God, and Yahweh called to him out of the mountain, saying, “This is what you shall tell the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:
4 You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I took you, as on eagles' wings, guiding you to myself.
4 ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to myself.
5 If now you will truly give ear to my voice and keep my agreement, you will be my special property out of all the peoples: for all the earth is mine: 5 Ahora pues, si diereis oído á mi voz, y guardareis mi pacto, vosotros seréis mi especial tesoro sobre todos los pueblos; porque mía es toda la tierra.
5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine;
6 And you will be a kingdom of priests to me, and a holy nation. These are the words which you are to say to the children of Israel.
6 and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”
7 And Moses came and sent for the chiefs of the people and put before them all these words which the Lord had given him orders to say.
7 Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which Yahweh commanded him.
8 And all the people, answering together, said, Whatever the Lord has said we will do. And Moses took back to the Lord the words of the people.
8 All the people answered together, and said, “All that Yahweh has spoken we will do.” Moses reported the words of the people to Yahweh.
9 And the Lord said to Moses, See, I will come to you in a thick cloud, so that what I say to you may come to the ears of the people and they may have belief in you for ever. And Moses gave the Lord word of what the people had said.
9 Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, I come to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and may also believe you forever.” Moses told the words of the people to Yahweh.
10 And the Lord said to Moses, Go to the people and make them holy today and tomorrow, and let their clothing be washed. 10 Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: Ve al pueblo, y santifícalos hoy y mañana, y laven sus vestidos;
10 Yahweh said to Moses, “Go to the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments,
11 And by the third day let them be ready: for on the third day the Lord will come down on Mount Sinai, before the eyes of all the people.
11 and be ready for the third day; for on the third day Yahweh will come down in the sight of all the people on Mount Sinai.
12 And let limits be marked out for the people round the mountain, and say to them, Take care not to go up the mountain or near the sides of it: whoever puts his foot on the mountain will certainly come to his death: 12 Y señalarás término al pueblo en derredor, diciendo: Guardaos, no subáis al monte, ni toquéis á su término: cualquiera que tocare el monte, de seguro morirá:
12 You shall set bounds to the people all around, saying, ‘Be careful that you don’t go up onto the mountain, or touch its border. Whoever touches the mountain shall be surely put to death.
13 He is not to be touched by a hand, but is to be stoned or have an arrow put through him; man or beast, he is to be put to death: at the long sounding of a horn they may come up to the mountain.
13 No hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot through; whether it is animal or man, he shall not live.’ When the trumpet sounds long, they shall come up to the mountain.”
14 Then Moses went down from the mountain to the people, and made the people holy; and their clothing was washed.
14 Moses went down from the mountain to the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.
15 And he said to the people, Be ready by the third day: do not come near a woman.
15 He said to the people, “Be ready by the third day. Don’t have sexual relations with a woman.”
16 And when morning came on the third day, there were thunders and flames and a thick cloud on the mountain, and a horn sounding very loud; and all the people in the tents were shaking with fear.
16 On the third day, when it was morning, there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain, and the sound of an exceedingly loud trumpet; and all the people who were in the camp trembled.
17 And Moses made the people come out of their tents and take their places before God; and they came to the foot of the mountain, 17 Y Moisés sacó del real al pueblo á recibir á Dios; y pusiéronse á lo bajo del monte.
17 Moses led the people out of the camp to meet God; and they stood at the lower part of the mountain.
18 And all the mountain of Sinai was smoking, for the Lord had come down on it in fire: and the smoke of it went up like the smoke of a great burning; and all the mountain was shaking.
18 All of Mount Sinai smoked, because Yahweh descended on it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.
19 And when the sound of the horn became louder and louder, Moses' words were answered by the voice of God. 19 Y el sonido de la bocina iba esforzándose en extremo: Moisés hablaba, y Dios le respondía en voz.
19 When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice.
20 Then the Lord came down on to Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain, and the Lord sent for Moses to come up to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up. 20 Y descendió Jehová sobre el monte de Sinaí, sobre la cumbre del monte: y llamó Jehová á Moisés á la cumbre del monte, y Moisés subió.
20 Yahweh came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. Yahweh called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.
21 And the Lord said to Moses, Go down and give the people orders to keep back, for fear that a great number of them, forcing their way through to see the Lord, may come to destruction.
21 Yahweh said to Moses, “Go down, warn the people, lest they break through to Yahweh to gaze, and many of them perish.
22 And let the priests who come near to the Lord make themselves holy, for fear that the Lord may come on them suddenly.
22 Let the priests also, who come near to Yahweh, sanctify themselves, lest Yahweh break out on them.”
23 And Moses said to the Lord, The people will not be able to come up the mountain, for you gave us orders to put limits round the mountain, marking it out and making it holy.
23 Moses said to Yahweh, “The people can’t come up to Mount Sinai, for you warned us, saying, ‘Set bounds around the mountain, and sanctify it.’”
24 And the Lord said to him, Go down, and you and Aaron may come up; but let not the priests and the people make their way through to the Lord, or he will come on them suddenly.
24 Yahweh said to him, “Go down! You shall bring Aaron up with you, but don’t let the priests and the people break through to come up to Yahweh, lest he break out against them.”
25 So Moses went down to the people and said this to them.
25 So Moses went down to the people, and told them.
