1 A revelation about Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
2 El Señor es un Dios que cuida su honor y castiga el mal. El Señor castiga y está enojado. El Señor castiga a quienes se oponen a él y está enojado con quienes lo odian.
2 Yahweh is a jealous God and avenges. Yahweh avenges and is full of wrath. Yahweh takes vengeance on his adversaries, and he maintains wrath against his enemies.
3 El Señor tarda en enojarse y tiene gran poder. No dejará al pecador sin castigo. El camino del Señor está en el viento y la tormenta; las nubes son el polvo de sus pies.
3 Yahweh is slow to anger, and great in power, and will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. Yahweh has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
4 Reprende al mar y lo seca; seca todos los ríos. Basán y el Carmelo se marchitan, y la flor del Líbano pierde su fuerza.
4 He rebukes the sea and makes it dry, and dries up all the rivers. Bashan and Carmel languish. The flower of Lebanon languishes.
5 Las montañas tiemblan ante él y las colinas se derriten. La tierra se deshace ante él, el mundo y todos sus habitantes.
5 The mountains quake before him, and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, yes, the world, and all who dwell in it.
6 ¿Quién puede mantenerse en pie ante su ira? ¿Quién puede soportar el calor de su furor? Su ira se desata como fuego, y él parte las rocas.
6 Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the fierceness of his anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken apart by him.
7 El Señor es bueno, una fortaleza en el día de la angustia. Conoce a quienes se refugian en él.
7 Yahweh is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows those who take refuge in him.
8 Pero como agua que se desborda, se los llevará. Acabará con quienes se levantan contra él y llevará a la oscuridad a quienes lo odian.
8 But with an overflowing flood, he will make a full end of her place, and will pursue his enemies into darkness.
9 ¿Qué traman contra el Señor? Él pondrá fin a sus planes. Sus enemigos no volverán a levantarse una segunda vez.
9 What do you plot against Yahweh? He will make a full end. Affliction won’t rise up the second time.
10 Aunque son como espinas entrelazadas y están vencidos por la bebida, serán destruidos como tallos de hierba completamente secos.
10 For entangled like thorns, and drunken as with their drink, they are consumed utterly like dry stubble.
11 De ti salió alguien que trama el mal contra el Señor, cuyos planes no tienen valor.
11 One has gone out of you who devises evil against Yahweh, who counsels wickedness.
12 Esto dice el Señor: «Los días de mi causa contra ti han terminado; han sido cortados y han pasado. Aunque te he enviado angustia, ya no sufrirás angustia.
12 Yahweh says: “Though they are in full strength and likewise many, even so they will be cut down and pass away. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more.
13 Ahora haré que su yugo se rompa y sea quitado de encima de ti y que tus cadenas se partan».
13 Now I will break his yoke from off you, and will burst your bonds apart.”
14 El Señor ha dado esta orden acerca de ti: «No tendrás más descendientes que lleven tu nombre. De la casa de tus dioses quitaré las imágenes talladas y las de metal. Haré de tu tumba un lugar de vergüenza, porque eres completamente malvado».
14 Yahweh has commanded concerning you: “No more descendants will bear your name. Out of the house of your gods, I will cut off the engraved image and the molten image. I will make your grave, for you are vile.”
15 ¡Mira en las montañas los pies del que trae buenas noticias y anuncia la paz! Celebra tus fiestas, Judá; cumple tus juramentos. El hombre que no vale nada nunca más pasará por ti; ha sido eliminado por completo.
15 Behold, on the mountains the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace! Keep your feasts, Judah! Perform your vows, for the wicked one will no more pass through you. He is utterly cut off.
