1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
2 Behold, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah.
2 “Behold, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah.
3 And I have filled him [with] a divine spirit of wisdom, and understanding, and knowledge, to invent in every work,
3 I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all kinds of workmanship,
4 and to frame works, to labor in gold, and silver, and brass, and blue, and purple, and spun scarlet,
4 to devise skillful works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in bronze,
5 and works in stone, and for artificers’ work in wood, to work at all works.
5 and in cutting of stones for setting, and in carving of wood, to work in all kinds of workmanship.
6 And I have appointed him and Oholiab the [son] of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan, and to everyone understanding in heart I have given understanding; and they shall make all things as many as I have appointed thee—
6 Behold, I myself have appointed with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the heart of all who are wise-hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded you:
7 the tabernacle of witness, and the ark of the covenant, and the propitiatory that is upon it, and the furniture of the tabernacle,
7 the Tent of Meeting, the ark of the covenant, the mercy seat that is on it, all the furniture of the Tent,
8 and the altars, and the table and all its furniture,
8 the table and its vessels, the pure lamp stand with all its vessels, the altar of incense,
9 and the pure candlestick and all its furniture, and the laver and its base,
9 the altar of burnt offering with all its vessels, the basin and its base,
10 and Aaron’s robes of ministry, and the robes of his sons to minister to me as priests,
10 the finely worked garments—the holy garments for Aaron the priest, the garments of his sons to minister in the priest’s office—
11 and the anointing oil and the compound incense of the sanctuary; according to all that I have commanded thee shall they make them.
11 the anointing oil, and the incense of sweet spices for the holy place: according to all that I have commanded you they shall do.”
12 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
12 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
13 Do thou also charge the children of Israel, saying, Take heed and keep my Sabbaths; [for] they are a sign with me and among you throughout your generations, that ye may know that I am the Lord that sanctifies you.
13 “Speak also to the children of Israel, saying, ‘Most certainly you shall keep my Sabbaths; for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am Yahweh who sanctifies you.
14 And ye shall keep the Sabbaths, because this is holy to the Lord for you; he that profanes it shall surely be put to death: every one who shall do a work on it, that soul shall be destroyed from the midst of his people.
14 You shall keep the Sabbath therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
15 Six days thou shalt do works, but the seventh day is the Sabbath, a holy rest to the Lord; everyone who shall do a work on the seventh day shall be put to death.
15 Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to Yahweh. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day shall surely be put to death.
16 And the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbaths, to observe them throughout their generations.
16 Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
17 It is a perpetual covenant with me and the children of Israel, it is a perpetual sign with me; for in six days the Lord made the heaven and the earth, and on the seventh day he ceased, and rested.
17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.’”
18 And he gave to Moses when he left off speaking to him in Mount Sinai the two tables of testimony, tables of stone written [upon] with the finger of God.
18 When he finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, he gave Moses the two tablets of the covenant, stone tablets, written with God’s finger.

  1. Cita 31:18 Augustine of Hippo, Expositions on the Psalms (Psalm VII)

We read that the law was written with the finger of God, and given through Moses, His holy servant: by which finger of God many understand the Holy Ghost. Wherefore if, by the fingers of God, we are right in understanding these same ministers filled with the Holy Ghost, by reason of this same Spirit which worketh in them, since …

He also was sent forth when the Tabernacle was in making, and filled with wisdom the wise-hearted men who were with Bezaleel.

  3. Cita 31:3 Basil of Caesarea, On the Holy Spirit (Chapter XIX)

"The Spirit of God," it is said "hath made me," and God filled Bezaleel with "the divine Spirit of wisdom and understanding and knowledge." Such names as these are super-eminent and mighty, but they do not transcend His glory.
