1 Alleluia, [a Psalm] of Haggai and Zechariah. My soul, praise the Lord.
146:1 Aleluya. ALABA, oh alma mía, á Jehová.
146:1 Praise Yah! Praise Yahweh, my soul.
2 While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises to my God as long as I exist.
146:2 While I live, I will praise Yahweh. I will sing praises to my God as long as I exist.
3 Trust not in princes, Nor in the children of men, in whom there is no safety.
146:3 Don’t put your trust in princes, in a son of man in whom there is no help.
4 His breath shall go forth, and he shall return to his earth; In that day all his thoughts shall perish.
146:4 His spirit departs, and he returns to the earth. In that very day, his thoughts perish.
5 Blessed is he whose helper is the God of Jacob, Whose hope is in the Lord his God:
146:5 Bienaventurado aquel en cuya ayuda es el Dios de Jacob, cuya esperanza es en Jehová su Dios:
146:5 Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in Yahweh, his God,
6 Who made heaven, and earth, The sea, and all things in them: Who keeps truth forever:
146:6 El cual hizo los cielos y la tierra, la mar, y todo lo que en ellos hay; que guarda verdad para siempre;
146:6 who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps truth forever;
7 Who executes judgment for the wronged: Who gives food to the hungry. The Lord looses the fettered ones:
146:7 Que hace derecho á los agraviados; que da pan á los hambrientos: Jehová suelta á los aprisionados;
146:7 who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. Yahweh frees the prisoners.
8 The Lord gives wisdom to the blind: The Lord sets up the broken down: The Lord loves the righteous: The Lord preserves the strangers;
146:8 Jehová abre [los ojos] á los ciegos; Jehová levanta á los caídos; Jehová ama á los justos.
146:8 Yahweh opens the eyes of the blind. Yahweh raises up those who are bowed down. Yahweh loves the righteous.
9 He will relieve the orphan and widow: But will utterly remove the way of sinners.
146:9 Yahweh preserves the foreigners. He upholds the fatherless and widow, but he turns the way of the wicked upside down.
10 The Lord shall reign forever, [Even] thy God, O Zion, to all generations.
Aleluya.
146:10 Yahweh will reign forever; your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise Yah!

  1. Comentario Augustine of Hippo, Expositions on the Psalms (Psalm CXLV)

    The title is, "Praise, to David himself." Praise to Christ Himself. And since He is called David, who came to us of the seed of David, yet He was our King, ruling us, and bringing us into His kingdom, therefore "Praise to David himself" is understood to mean, Praise to Christ Himself.

  2. Cita 146:8 Augustine of Hippo, Confessions (Book XI, Chapters XXVIII–XXXI)

    Oh, how exalted art Thou, and yet the humble in heart are Thy dwelling-place; for Thou raisest up those that are bowed down, and they whose exaltation Thou art fall not.

  3. Cita 146:4 Cyril of Jerusalem, Catechetical Lectures (Lecture XVI)

    For concerning our soul the Scripture says, His spirit shall go forth, and he shall return to his earth: and of the same soul it says again, Which formeth the spirit of man within him.

  4. Cita 146:6 John of Damascus, An Exact Exposition of the Orthodox Faith (Book II, Chapters IV–VI)

    Our God Himself, Whom we glorify as Three in One, created the heaven and the earth and all that they contain, and brought all things out of nothing into being: some He made out of no pre-existing basis of matter, such as heaven, earth, air, fire, water: and the rest out of these elements that He had created, such …

  5. Cita 146:6 Augustine of Hippo, Our Lord's Sermon on the Mount (Book II, Chapters XXI–XXII)

    … are good, but temporal, and pertaining to this feeble life: and whoever that is evil gives them, does not give of his own; for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof, who made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is. How much reason, therefore, there is for the hope that God will give us good …
