1 The praise of a Song by David. Come, let us exult in the Lord; Let us make a joyful noise to God our Savior.
95:1 Oh come, let’s sing to Yahweh. Let’s shout aloud to the rock of our salvation!
2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, And make a joyful noise to him with psalms.
95:2 Let’s come before his presence with thanksgiving. Let’s extol him with songs!
3 For the Lord is a great God, And a great king over all gods: For the Lord will not cast off his people.
95:3 For Yahweh is a great God, a great King above all gods.
4 For the ends of the earth are in his hands; And the heights of the mountains are his.
95:4 In his hand are the deep places of the earth. The heights of the mountains are also his.
5 For the sea is his, and he made it: And his hands formed the dry land.
95:5 The sea is his, and he made it. His hands formed the dry land.
6 Come, let us worship and fall down before him; And weep before the Lord that made us.
95:6 Venid, adoremos y postrémonos; arrodillémonos delante de Jehová nuestro hacedor.
95:6 Oh come, let’s worship and bow down. Let’s kneel before Yahweh, our Maker,
7 For he is our God; And we are the people of his pasture, And the sheep of his hand.
95:7 for he is our God. We are the people of his pasture, and the sheep in his care. Today, oh that you would hear his voice!
8 Today, if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, According to the day of irritation in the wilderness:
95:8 No endurezcáis vuestro corazón como en Meriba, como el día de Masa en el desierto;
95:8 Don’t harden your heart, as at Meribah, as in the day of Massah in the wilderness,
9 Where your fathers tempted me, Proved me, and saw my works.
95:9 Donde me tentaron vuestros padres, probáronme, y vieron mi obra.
95:9 when your fathers tempted me, tested me, and saw my work.
10 Forty years was I grieved with this generation, And said, They do always err in their heart, And they have not known my ways.
95:10 Forty long years I was grieved with that generation, and said, “They are a people who err in their heart. They have not known my ways.”
11 So I swore in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.
95:11 Therefore I swore in my wrath, “They won’t enter into my rest.”

  1. Comentario Augustine of Hippo, Expositions on the Psalms (Psalm XCIV)

As we listened with much attention, while the Psalm was in reading, so let us listen attentively, while the Lord revealeth the mysteries which He hath deigned to obscure in this passage. For some mysteries in the Scriptures are shut up for this reason, not that they may be denied, but that they may be opened unto those who knock.

  2. Cita 95:5 Augustine of Hippo, Confessions (Book XIII, Chapters XVI–XIX)

For the sea also is Thine, and Thou hast made it, and Thy hands prepared the dry land. For neither is the bitterness of men's wills, but the gathering together of waters called sea; for Thou even curbest the wicked desires of men's souls, and fixest their bounds, how far they may be permitted to advance, and that their waves …

  3. Cita 95:7 John Chrysostom, Homilies on the Gospel of Matthew (Homily LXXXVI)

Doth he turn away, and not return?" and, "I do not will the death of the sinner, so much as that he should turn and live:" and, "To-day if ye will hear His voice:" and many other such things, both sayings and examples are set in the Scripture.

  4. Cita 95:4 Basil of Caesarea, Hexaemeron (Homily I)

Let us then reply to ourselves, and let us reply to those who ask us upon what support this enormous mass rests, "In His hands are the ends of the earth." It is a doctrine as infallible for our own information as profitable for our hearers.

  5. Cita 95:3 Augustine of Hippo, The City of God (Book IX, Chapter 23)

… gods, this need not give rise to any serious discussion between us, since in our own Scriptures we read, "The God of gods, the Lord hath spoken;" and again, "Confess to the God of gods;" and again, "He is a great King above all gods." And where it is said, "He is to be feared above all gods," the reason …
