FBV Free Bible Version (Versión Biblia Libre en inglés) WEB World English Bible (clásica, con deuterocanónicos) 1 Six days before the Passover, Jesus went to Bethany, to the home of Lazarus who had been raised from the dead.
1 Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.
2 There a dinner was arranged in his honor. Martha helped serve the food while Lazarus sat at the table with Jesus and the other guests.
2 So they made him a supper there. Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with him.
3 Mary brought a pint of pure nard perfume and anointed Jesus' feet, wiping them dry with her hair. The scent of the perfume filled the whole house.
3 Therefore Mary took a pound of ointment of pure nard, very precious, and anointed Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment.
4 But one of the disciples, Judas Iscariot, who would later betray Jesus, asked, 4 Y dijo uno de sus discípulos, Judas Iscariote, [hijo] de Simón, el que le había de entregar:
4 Then Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, one of his disciples, who would betray him, said,
5 “Why wasn't this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth three hundred denarii.” 5 ¿Por qué no se ha vendido este ungüento por trescientos dineros, y se dió á los pobres?
5 “Why wasn’t this ointment sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?”
6 He wasn't saying this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief. He was the one who looked after the disciples' money and he often took some for himself.
6 Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the money box, used to steal what was put into it.
7 “Don't criticize her,” Jesus replied. “She did this in preparation for the day of my burial. 7 Entonces Jesús dijo: Déjala: para el día de mi sepultura ha guardado esto;
7 But Jesus said, “Leave her alone. She has kept this for the day of my burial.
8 You'll always have the poor with you, but you won't always have me here.” 8 Porque á los pobres siempre los tenéis con vosotros, mas á mí no siempre me tenéis.
8 For you always have the poor with you, but you don’t always have me.”
9 A large crowd of Jews had found out that he was there. They came there not just to see Jesus but because they wanted to see Lazarus, the man Jesus had raised from the dead.
9 A large crowd therefore of the Jews learned that he was there; and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.
10 So the chief priests planned to kill Lazarus as well, 10 Consultaron asimismo los príncipes de los sacerdotes, de matar también á Lázaro;
10 But the chief priests conspired to put Lazarus to death also,
11 since it was because of him that many people were no longer following the Jewish leaders but putting their trust in Jesus.
11 because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.
12 The following day the crowds of people who had come for the Passover festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem.
12 On the next day a great multitude had come to the feast. When they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13 They cut off palm branches and went to welcome him, shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is the one coming in the name of the Lord. Blessed is the king of Israel.” 13 Tomaron ramos de palmas, y salieron á recibirle, y clamaban: ¡Hosanna, Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor, el Rey de Israel!
13 they took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet him, and cried out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel!”
14 Jesus found a young donkey and rode on it, as Scripture says: 14 Y halló Jesús un asnillo, y se sentó sobre él, como está escrito:
14 Jesus, having found a young donkey, sat on it. As it is written,
15 “Don't be afraid, daughter of Zion. Look, your king is coming, riding a donkey's colt.” 15 No temas, hija de Sión: he aquí tu Rey viene, sentado sobre un pollino de asna.
15 “Don’t be afraid, daughter of Zion. Behold, your King comes, sitting on a donkey’s colt.”
16 At the time, Jesus' disciples did not understand what these things meant. It was only later when he was glorified that they realized what had happened had been prophesied and applied to him.
16 His disciples didn’t understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about him, and that they had done these things to him.
17 Many in the crowd had seen Jesus call Lazarus from the tomb and raise him from the dead, and were telling the story.
17 The multitude therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead was testifying about it.
18 That was the reason so many people went to meet Jesus—because they had heard about this miracle. 18 Por lo cual también había venido la gente á recibirle, porque había oído que él había hecho esta señal;
18 For this cause also the multitude went and met him, because they heard that he had done this sign.
19 The Pharisees said to one other, “Look, we're getting nowhere. Everyone's running after him.” 19 Mas los Fariseos dijeron entre sí: ¿Veis que nada aprovecháis? he aquí, el mundo se va tras de él.
19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, “See how you accomplish nothing. Behold, the world has gone after him.”
20 Now some Greeks had come to the festival to worship.
20 Now there were certain Greeks among those who went up to worship at the feast.
21 They came to Philip of Bethsaida in Galilee, and said, “Sir, we'd like to see Jesus.” 21 Estos pues, se llegaron á Felipe, que era de Bethsaida de Galilea, y rogáronle, diciendo: Señor, querríamos ver á Jesús.
21 Therefore, these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, “Sir, we want to see Jesus.”
22 Philip went and told Andrew. Then they both went to Jesus and told him. 22 Vino Felipe, y díjolo á Andrés: Andrés entonces, y Felipe, lo dicen á Jesús.
22 Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn, Andrew came with Philip, and they told Jesus.
23 Jesus responded, “The time has come for the Son of man to be glorified. 23 Entonces Jesús les respondió, diciendo: La hora viene en que el Hijo del hombre ha de ser glorificado.
23 Jesus answered them, “The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.
24 I tell you the truth: unless a grain of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains just one grain. But if it dies, it produces many more grains of wheat.
24 Most certainly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit.
25 If you love your own life you will lose it, but if you don't love your own life in this world you will keep your life forever.
25 He who loves his life will lose it. He who hates his life in this world will keep it to eternal life.
26 If you want to serve me you need to follow me. My servants will be where I am, and my Father will honor anyone who serves me. 26 Si alguno me sirve, sígame: y donde yo estuviere, allí también estará mi servidor. Si alguno me sirviere, mi Padre le honrará.
26 If anyone serves me, let him follow me. Where I am, there my servant will also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
27 Now I am troubled. What should I say? ‘Father, save me from this coming time of suffering?’ No, for this is why I came—to go through this time of suffering.
27 “Now my soul is troubled. What shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this time’? But I came to this time for this cause.
28 Father, show the glory of your character.” A voice came from heaven, saying, “I have shown its glory, and I will show it again.” 28 Padre, glorifica tu nombre.
28 Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came out of the sky, saying, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.”
29 The crowd that was standing there heard it. Some said it thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.
29 Therefore the multitude who stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.”
30 Jesus told them, “This voice spoke not for my sake, but for yours. 30 Respondió Jesús, y dijo: No ha venido esta voz por mi causa, mas por causa de vosotros.
30 Jesus answered, “This voice hasn’t come for my sake, but for your sakes.
31 Now is the judgment of this world; now the prince of this world will be thrown out.
31 Now is the judgment of this world. Now the prince of this world will be cast out.
32 But when I am lifted up from the earth I will attract everyone to me.” 32 Y yo, si fuere levantado de la tierra, á todos traeré á mí mismo.
32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”
33 (He said this to point out the kind of death he was going to die.) 33 Y esto decía dando á entender de qué muerte había de morir.
33 But he said this, signifying by what kind of death he should die.
34 The crowd responded, “The Law tells us that the Messiah will live forever, so how can you say the Son of man must be ‘lifted up’? Who is this ‘Son of man’?” 34 Respondióle la gente: Nosotros hemos oído de la ley, que el Cristo permanece para siempre: ¿cómo pues dices tú: Conviene que el Hijo del hombre sea levantado? ¿Quién es este Hijo del hombre?
34 The multitude answered him, “We have heard out of the law that the Christ remains forever. How do you say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?”
35 Jesus replied, “The light is here with you for a little longer. Walk while you have the light so that the darkness doesn't overtake you. Those who walk in the dark don't know where they're going. 35 Entonces Jesús les dice: Aun por un poco estará la luz entre vosotros: andad entre tanto que tenéis luz, porque no os sorprendan las tinieblas; porque el que anda en tinieblas, no sabe dónde va.
35 Jesus therefore said to them, “Yet a little while the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, that darkness doesn’t overtake you. He who walks in the darkness doesn’t know where he is going.
36 Put your trust in the light while you still have it so that you can become children of light.” When Jesus had told them this, he left and hid himself from them.
36 While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become children of light.” Jesus said these things, and he departed and hid himself from them.
37 But despite all the miracles he had done in their presence, they still did not trust in Jesus.
37 But though he had done so many signs before them, yet they didn’t believe in him,
38 This fulfilled the message of Isaiah the prophet, who said, “Lord, who has believed what we told them? To whom has the Lord's power been revealed?” 38 Para que se cumpliese el dicho que dijo el profeta Isaías: ¿Señor, quién ha creído á nuestro dicho? ¿y el brazo del Señor, á quién es revelado?
38 that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke: “Lord, who has believed our report? To whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”
39 They were not able to trust him, and as a result they fulfilled what Isaiah also said: 39 Por esto no podían creer, porque otra vez dijo Isaías:
39 For this cause they couldn’t believe, for Isaiah said again:
40 “He blinded their eyes, and made their minds dull, so that their eyes would not see, and their minds would not think, and they would not turn to me—for if they did I would heal them.” 40 Cegó los ojos de ellos, y endureció su corazón; porque no vean con los ojos, y entiendan de corazón, y se conviertan, y yo los sane.
40 “He has blinded their eyes and he hardened their heart, lest they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart, and would turn, and I would heal them.”
41 Isaiah saw Jesus' glory and said this in reference to him.
41 Isaiah said these things when he saw his glory, and spoke of him.
42 Even so many of the leaders did trust in him. However, they did not openly admit it because they did not want the Pharisees to expel them from the synagogue, 42 Con todo eso, aun de los príncipes, muchos creyeron en él; mas por causa de los Fariseos no [lo] confesaban, por no ser echados de la sinagoga.
42 Nevertheless, even many of the rulers believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they didn’t confess it, so that they wouldn’t be put out of the synagogue,
43 loving human admiration more than God's approval.
43 for they loved men’s praise more than God’s praise.
44 Jesus called out, “If you trust in me you're not just trusting in me but also in the one who sent me. 44 Mas Jesús clamó y dijo: El que cree en mí, no cree en mí, sino en el que me envió;
44 Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not in me, but in him who sent me.
45 When you see me, you're seeing the one who sent me. 45 Y el que me ve, ve al que me envió.
45 He who sees me sees him who sent me.
46 I have come as a light shining into the world, so if you trust in me you won't remain in the dark.
46 I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness.
47 I don't judge anyone who hears my words but doesn't do what I say. I came to save the world, not to judge it. 47 Y el que oyere mis palabras, y no las creyere, yo no le juzgo; porque no he venido á juzgar al mundo, sino á salvar al mundo.
47 If anyone listens to my sayings and doesn’t believe, I don’t judge him. For I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
48 Anyone who rejects me and does not accept my words will be judged at the end-time judgment in accordance with what I have said.
48 He who rejects me, and doesn’t receive my sayings, has one who judges him. The word that I spoke will judge him in the last day.
49 For I'm not speaking for myself but for my Father who sent me. He is the one who instructed me what to say and how to say it. 49 Porque yo no he hablado de mí mismo: mas el Padre que me envió, él me dió mandamiento de lo que he de decir, y de lo que he de hablar.
49 For I spoke not from myself, but the Father who sent me gave me a commandment, what I should say and what I should speak.
50 I know that what he told me to say brings eternal life—so whatever I say is what the Father told me.” 50 Y sé que su mandamiento es vida eterna: así que, lo que yo hablo, como el Padre me lo ha dicho, así hablo.
50 I know that his commandment is eternal life. The things therefore which I speak, even as the Father has said to me, so I speak.”
