1 When he came down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.
2 A leper approached him and bowed down, worshiping him, and said, “Lord, if you're willing, please heal me.” 2 Y he aquí un leproso vino, y le adoraba, diciendo: Señor, si quisieres, puedes limpiarme.
2 Behold, a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, “Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean.”
3 Jesus reached out and touched him with his hand. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” Immediately he was healed from his leprosy.
3 Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I want to. Be made clean.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4 “Make sure you don't tell anyone,” Jesus told him. “Go and show yourself to the priest and give the offering which Moses required as public proof.” 4 Entonces Jesús le dijo: Mira, no lo digas á nadie; mas ve, muéstrate al sacerdote, y ofrece el presente que mandó Moisés, para testimonio á ellos.
4 Jesus said to him, “See that you tell nobody; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
5 When Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came up to him, begging for help, 5 Y entrando Jesús en Capernaum, vino á él un centurión, rogándole,
5 When he came into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking him for help,
6 “Lord, my servant is at home, lying down, unable to move. He's in terrible agony.” 6 Y diciendo: Señor, mi mozo yace en casa paralítico, gravemente atormentado.
6 saying, “Lord, my servant lies in the house paralyzed, grievously tormented.”
7 “I will come and heal him,” Jesus replied. 7 Y Jesús le dijo: Yo iré y le sanaré.
7 Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”
8 The centurion answered, “Lord, I don't merit a visit to my home. Just say the word, and my servant will be healed. 8 Y respondió el centurión, y dijo: Señor, no soy digno de que entres debajo de mi techado; mas solamente di la palabra, y mi mozo sanará.
8 The centurion answered, “Lord, I’m not worthy for you to come under my roof. Just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
9 For I am myself under the authority of superiors, while I also have soldiers under my command. I command one, ‘Go!’ and he goes. I command another, ‘Come!’ and he comes. I tell my servant, ‘Do this!’ and he does it.” 9 Porque también yo soy hombre bajo de potestad, y tengo bajo de mí soldados: y digo á éste: Ve, y va; y al otro: Ven, y viene; y á mi siervo: Haz esto, y lo hace.
9 For I am also a man under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and tell another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and tell my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10 When Jesus heard what he said, he was astonished. He told those who were following him, “I tell you the truth, I haven't found this kind of trust anywhere in Israel. 10 Y oyendo Jesús, se maravilló, y dijo á los que [le] seguían: De cierto os digo, que ni aun en Israel he hallado fe tanta.
10 When Jesus heard it, he marveled and said to those who followed, “Most certainly I tell you, I haven’t found so great a faith, not even in Israel.
11 I tell you that many will come from the east and the west, and sit down with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
11 I tell you that many will come from the east and the west, and will sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the Kingdom of Heaven,
12 But the heirs of the kingdom will be thrown out into utter darkness where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.” 12 Mas los hijos del reino serán echados á las tinieblas de afuera: allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes.
12 but the children of the Kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
13 Then Jesus told the centurion, “Go home. Because you trusted that it would happen, what you asked for has been done.” The servant was healed right away.
13 Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way. Let it be done for you as you have believed.” His servant was healed in that hour.
14 When Jesus arrived at Peter's house, he saw that Peter's mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever.
14 When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever.
15 He touched her hand and the fever left her. She got up and began making him a meal.
15 He touched her hand, and the fever left her. So she got up and served him.
16 When evening came they brought many who were demon-possessed to Jesus. He made the spirits leave at his command, and he healed all those who were sick. 16 Y como fué ya tarde, trajeron á él muchos endemoniados; y echó los demonios con la palabra, y sanó á todos los enfermos;
16 When evening came, they brought to him many possessed with demons. He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick,
17 This fulfilled what the prophet Isaiah said: “He healed our diseases, and freed us from our illnesses.” 17 Para que se cumpliese lo que fué dicho por el profeta Isaías, que dijo: El mismo tomó nuestras enfermedades, y llevó nuestras dolencias.
17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying, “He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.”
18 When Jesus saw the crowds around him, he gave instructions that they should go to the other side of the lake.
18 Now when Jesus saw great multitudes around him, he gave the order to depart to the other side.
19 One of the religious teachers approached him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go!” 19 Y llegándose un escriba, le dijo: Maestro, te seguiré á donde quiera que fueres.
19 A scribe came and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”
20 “Foxes have their dens, and wild birds have their nests, but the Son of man has nowhere he can lie down and rest,” Jesus told him.
20 Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”
21 Another disciple said to Jesus, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” 21 Y otro de sus discípulos le dijo: Señor, dame licencia para que vaya primero, y entierre á mi padre.
21 Another of his disciples said to him, “Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.”
22 “Follow me! Leave the dead to bury their own dead,” Jesus replied.
22 But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.”
23 Then Jesus got into a boat and his disciples went with him.
23 When he got into a boat, his disciples followed him.
24 A violent storm suddenly blew up, and waves crashed over the boat, but Jesus went on sleeping.
24 Behold, a violent storm came up on the sea, so much that the boat was covered with the waves; but he was asleep.
25 The disciples went over to him and woke him up. “Save us, Lord! We're going to drown!” they shouted.
25 The disciples came to him and woke him up, saying, “Save us, Lord! We are dying!”
26 “Why are you so afraid? Why do you trust so little?” he asked them. Then he got up, and commanded the winds and the waves to stop. Everything became absolutely calm.
26 He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then he got up, rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm.
27 The disciples were astonished, and said, “Who is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!” 27 Y los hombres se maravillaron, diciendo: ¿Qué hombre es éste, que aun los vientos y la mar le obedecen?
27 The men marveled, saying, “What kind of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
28 When he arrived on the other side, in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men came out of the graveyard to meet him. They were so dangerous that nobody dared to travel that way.
28 When he came to the other side, into the country of the Gergesenes, two people possessed by demons met him there, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that nobody could pass that way.
29 They shouted out, “What have you got to do with us, you Son of God? Have you come to torture us before our time?” 29 Y he aquí clamaron, diciendo: ¿Qué tenemos contigo, Jesús, Hijo de Dios? ¿has venido acá á molestarnos antes de tiempo?
29 Behold, they cried out, saying, “What do we have to do with you, Jesus, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?”
30 In the distance a large herd of pigs was feeding.
30 Now there was a herd of many pigs feeding far away from them.
31 The demons pleaded with him, “If you're going to drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.” 31 Y los demonios le rogaron, diciendo: Si nos echas, permítenos ir á aquel hato de puercos.
31 The demons begged him, saying, “If you cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of pigs.”
32 “Go!” said Jesus. The demons left the men and went into the pigs. The whole herd ran down the steep hillside into the sea and drowned.
32 He said to them, “Go!” They came out and went into the herd of pigs; and behold, the whole herd of pigs rushed down the cliff into the sea and died in the water.
33 The pig herders ran away. They went to the town and told the people there everything that had taken place, and what had happened to the demon-possessed men.
33 Those who fed them fled and went away into the city and told everything, including what happened to those who were possessed with demons.
34 The whole town came out to meet Jesus. When they found him, they begged him to leave their district.
34 Behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus. When they saw him, they begged that he would depart from their borders.
