KJV Versión King James (con apócrifos)
RV1909 Reina-Valera 1909
1 A Psalm of David. LORD, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.
1 Salmo de David. JEHOVÁ, á ti he clamado: apresúrate á mí; escucha mi voz, cuando te invocare.
2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee [as] incense; [and] the lifting up of my hands [as] the evening sacrifice.
3 Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.
4 Incline not my heart to [any] evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.
5 Let the righteous smite me; [it shall be] a kindness: and let him reprove me; [it shall be] an excellent oil, [which] shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also [shall be] in their calamities.
6 When their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet.
7 Our bones are scattered at the grave’s mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth [wood] upon the earth.
8 But mine eyes [are] unto thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.
8 Por tanto á ti, oh Jehová Señor, [miran] mis ojos: en ti he confiado, no desampares mi alma.
9 Keep me from the snares [which] they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity.
10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape.

  1. Comentario Augustine of Hippo, Expositions on the Psalms (Psalm CXL)

What this Psalm containeth, I believe that ye perceived when it was being chanted; for therein the Church of Christ, set in the midst of the wicked, complaineth and groaneth, and poureth out prayer to God.

"The righteous," saith it, "shall chasten me in mercy, and reprove me; but let not the oil of sinners make fat my head." 3. Cita 141:3 Augustine of Hippo, Confessions (Book V, Chapters IX–X)

Not yet, therefore, hadst Thou set a watch before my mouth, and kept the door of my lips, that my heart might not incline to wicked speeches, to make excuses of sins, with men that work iniquity --and, therefore, was I still united with their "Elect."

For as to this also being a sacrifice, hear what the prophet saith: "A sacrifice of praise will glorify me;" and again, "Sacrifice to God a sacrifice of praise;" and, "The lifting up of mine hands is an evening sacrifice." But first listen to what thou sayest in the Psalm, "Let my prayer be set forth in Thy sight as incense." When then not incense, but a stinking smoke arises from thee, and from thy deeds, what punishment dost thou not deserve to undergo?
