ULB Unlocked Literal Bible WEB World English Bible (clásica, con deuterocanónicos) 1 Then Joseph was so distressed that he collapsed on the face of his father, and he wept over him, and he kissed him.
1 Joseph fell on his father’s face, wept on him, and kissed him.
2 Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father. So the physicians embalmed Israel.
2 Joseph commanded his servants, the physicians, to embalm his father; and the physicians embalmed Israel.
3 They took forty days, for that was the full time for embalming. The Egyptians wept for him seventy days.
3 Forty days were used for him, for that is how many days it takes to embalm. The Egyptians wept for Israel for seventy days.
4 When the days of weeping were over, Joseph spoke to the house of Pharaoh, saying, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, please speak to Pharaoh, saying, 4 Y pasados los días de su luto, habló José á los de la casa de Faraón, diciendo: Si he hallado ahora gracia en vuestros ojos, os ruego que habléis en oídos de Faraón, diciendo:
4 When the days of weeping for him were past, Joseph spoke to Pharaoh’s staff, saying, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, please speak in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,
5 'My father made me swear, saying, “See, I am about to die. Bury me in my tomb that I dug for myself in the land of Canaan. There you will bury me.” Now let me go up and bury my father, and then I will return.'” 5 Mi padre me conjuró diciendo: He aquí yo muero; en mi sepulcro que yo cavé para mí en la tierra de Canaán, allí me sepultarás; ruego pues que vaya yo ahora, y sepultaré á mi padre, y volveré.
5 ‘My father made me swear, saying, “Behold, I am dying. Bury me in my grave which I have dug for myself in the land of Canaan.” Now therefore, please let me go up and bury my father, and I will come again.’”
6 Pharaoh answered, “Go and bury your father, as he made you swear.” 6 Y Faraón dijo: Ve, y sepulta á tu padre, como él te conjuró.
6 Pharaoh said, “Go up, and bury your father, just like he made you swear.”
7 Joseph went up to bury his father. All the officials of Pharaoh went with him—the elders of his household, all the senior officials of the land of Egypt, 7 Entonces José subió á sepultar á su padre; y subieron con él todos los siervos de Faraón, los ancianos de su casa, y todos los ancianos de la tierra de Egipto,
7 Joseph went up to bury his father; and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, all the elders of the land of Egypt,
8 with all Joseph's household and his brothers, and his father's household. But their children, their flocks, and their herds were left in the land of Goshen.
8 all the house of Joseph, his brothers, and his father’s house. Only their little ones, their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen.
9 Chariots and horsemen also went with him. It was a very large group of people.
9 Both chariots and horsemen went up with him. It was a very great company.
10 When they came to the threshing floor of Atad on the other side of the Jordan, they mourned with very great and grievous sorrow. There Joseph made a seven-day mourning for his father.
10 They came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan, and there they lamented with a very great and severe lamentation. He mourned for his father seven days.
11 When the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, “This is a very sad occasion for the Egyptians.” That is why the place was called Abel Mizraim, which is beyond the Jordan.
11 When the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, “This is a grievous mourning by the Egyptians.” Therefore its name was called Abel Mizraim, which is beyond the Jordan.
12 So his sons did for Jacob just as he had instructed them.
12 His sons did to him just as he commanded them,
13 His sons carried him to the land of Canaan and buried him in the cave in the field of Machpelah, near Mamre. Abraham had bought the cave with the field for a burial place. He had bought it from Ephron the Hittite.
13 for his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field, as a possession for a burial site, from Ephron the Hittite, near Mamre.
14 After he had buried his father, Joseph returned into Egypt, he, along with his brothers, and all who had accompanied him to bury his father.
14 Joseph returned into Egypt—he, and his brothers, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.
15 When Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “What if Joseph holds on to anger against us and wants to repay us in full for all the evil we did to him?” 15 Y viendo los hermanos de José que su padre era muerto, dijeron: Quizá nos aborrecerá José, y nos dará el pago de todo el mal que le hicimos.
15 When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “It may be that Joseph will hate us, and will fully pay us back for all the evil which we did to him.”
16 So they commanded the presence of Joseph, saying, “Your father gave instructions before he died, saying, 16 Y enviaron á decir á José: Tu padre mandó antes de su muerte, diciendo:
16 They sent a message to Joseph, saying, “Your father commanded before he died, saying,
17 'Tell Joseph this, “Please forgive the transgression of your brothers and their sin when they did evil to you.”' Now please forgive the servants of the God of your father.” Joseph wept when they spoke to him.
17 ‘You shall tell Joseph, “Now please forgive the disobedience of your brothers, and their sin, because they did evil to you.”’ Now, please forgive the disobedience of the servants of the God of your father.” Joseph wept when they spoke to him.
18 His brothers also went and lay facedown before him. They said, “See, we are your servants.” 18 Y vinieron también sus hermanos, y postráronse delante de él, y dijeron: Henos aquí por tus siervos.
18 His brothers also went and fell down before his face; and they said, “Behold, we are your servants.”
19 But Joseph answered them, “Do not be afraid. Am I in the place of God? 19 Y respondióles José: No temáis: ¿estoy yo en lugar de Dios?
19 Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for am I in the place of God?
20 As for you, you meant to harm me, but God meant it for good, to preserve the lives of many people, as you see today.
20 As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to save many people alive, as is happening today.
21 So now do not be afraid. I will provide for you and your little children.” He comforted them in this way and spoke kindly to their hearts. 21 Ahora, pues, no tengáis miedo; yo os sustentaré á vosotros y á vuestros hijos.
21 Now therefore don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your little ones.” He comforted them, and spoke kindly to them.
22 Joseph lived in Egypt, together with his father's family. He lived one hundred ten years.
22 Joseph lived in Egypt, he, and his father’s house. Joseph lived one hundred ten years.
23 Joseph saw Ephraim's children to the third generation. He also saw the children of Machir son of Manasseh, who were placed on the knees of Joseph.
23 Joseph saw Ephraim’s children to the third generation. The children also of Machir, the son of Manasseh, were born on Joseph’s knees.
24 Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die; but God will surely come to you and lead you up out of this land to the land which he swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.” 24 Y José dijo á sus hermanos: Yo me muero; mas Dios ciertamente os visitará, y os hará subir de aquesta tierra á la tierra que juró á Abraham, á Isaac, y á Jacob.
24 Joseph said to his brothers, “I am dying, but God will surely visit you, and bring you up out of this land to the land which he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.”
25 Then Joseph made the people of Israel swear an oath. He said, “God will surely come to you. At that time you must carry up my bones from here.” 25 Y conjuró José á los hijos de Israel, diciendo: Dios ciertamente os visitará, y haréis llevar de aquí mis huesos.
25 Joseph took an oath from the children of Israel, saying, “God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here.”
26 So Joseph died, 110 years old. They embalmed him and he was placed in a coffin in Egypt.
26 So Joseph died, being one hundred ten years old, and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.
