1 Και εν ταις ημέραις του Ασσουήρου, ούτος είναι ο Ασσουήρης, ο βασιλεύων από της Ινδίας έως της Αιθιοπίας, επί εκατόν εικοσιεπτά επαρχιών·
1 Y ACONTECIÓ en los días de Assuero, (el Assuero que reinó desde la India hasta la Etiopía sobre ciento veinte y siete provincias,)
1 Now in the days of Ahasuerus (this is Ahasuerus who reigned from India even to Ethiopia, over one hundred twenty-seven provinces),
2 εν εκείναις ταις ημέραις, ότε ο βασιλεύς Ασσουήρης εκάθησεν επί τον θρόνον της βασιλείας αυτού, εν Σούσοις τη βασιλευούση,
2 Que en aquellos días, asentado que fué el rey Assuero en la silla de su reino, la cual estaba en Susán capital del reino,
2 in those days, when the King Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Susa the palace,
3 εν τω τρίτω έτει της βασιλείας αυτού, έκαμε συμπόσιον εις πάντας τους άρχοντας αυτού και τους δούλους αυτού· και ήτο ενώπιον αυτού η δύναμις της Περσίας και της Μηδίας, οι ευγενείς και οι άρχοντες των επαρχιών,
3 En el tercer año de su reinado hizo banquete á todos sus príncipes y siervos, teniendo delante de él la fuerza de Persia y de Media, gobernadores y príncipes de provincias,
3 in the third year of his reign, he made a feast for all his princes and his servants; the army of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces being before him.
4 ότε εδείκνυε τα πλούτη της ενδόξου βασιλείας αυτού, και την λαμπρότητα της εξόχου μεγαλειότητος αυτού, ημέρας πολλάς, εκατόν ογδοήκοντα ημέρας.
4 Para mostrar él las riquezas de la gloria de su reino, y el lustre de la magnificencia de su poder, por muchos días, ciento y ochenta días.
4 He displayed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the honor of his excellent majesty many days, even one hundred eighty days.
5 Και αφού επληρώθησαν αι ημέραι αύται, έκαμεν ο βασιλεύς συμπόσιον εις πάντα τον λαόν τον ευρεθέντα εν Σούσοις τη βασιλευούση, από μεγάλου έως μικρού, επτά ημέρας, εν τη αυλή του κήπου του βασιλικού παλατίου·
5 Y cumplidos estos días, hizo el rey banquete por siete días en el patio del huerto del palacio real á todo el pueblo, desde el mayor hasta el menor que se halló en Susán capital del reino.
5 When these days were fulfilled, the king made a seven day feast for all the people who were present in Susa the palace, both great and small, in the court of the garden of the king’s palace.
6 όπου ήσαν παραπετάσματα λευκά, πράσινα και κυανά, κρεμάμενα διά σχοινίων βυσσίνων και πορφυρών διά κρίκων αργυρών εις στύλους εκ μαρμάρου· κλίναι χρυσαί και αργυραί ήσαν επί λιθόστρωτον εκ πορφυρίτου και κυανού και λευκού και μέλανος μαρμάρου.
6 [El pabellón era de] blanco, verde, y cárdeno, tendido sobre cuerdas de lino y púrpura en sortijas de plata y columnas de mármol: los reclinatorios de oro y de plata, sobre losado de pórfido y de mármol, y de alabastro y de jacinto.
6 There were hangings of white and blue material, fastened with cords of fine linen and purple to silver rings and marble pillars. The couches were of gold and silver, on a pavement of red, white, yellow, and black marble.
7 Εκέρνων δε εις σκεύη χρυσά, ηλλάσσοντο δε τα σκεύη διαδοχικώς, και ήτο οίνος βασιλικός εν αφθονία, κατά την μεγαλοπρέπειαν του βασιλέως.
7 Y daban á beber en vasos de oro, y vasos diferentes unos de otros, y mucho vino real, conforme á la facultad del rey.
7 They gave them drinks in golden vessels of various kinds, including royal wine in abundance, according to the bounty of the king.
8 Η δε πόσις ήτο κεκανονισμένη· ουδείς εβίαζε· διότι ο βασιλεύς προσέταξεν ούτως εις πάντας τους οικονόμους του παλατίου αυτού, να κάμνωσι κατά την ευχαρίστησιν εκάστου.
8 Y la bebida fué según esta ley: Que nadie constriñese; porque así lo había mandado el rey á todos los mayordomos de su casa; que se hiciese según la voluntad de cada uno.
8 In accordance with the law, the drinking was not compulsory; for so the king had instructed all the officials of his house, that they should do according to every man’s pleasure.
9 Και Αστίν έτι η βασίλισσα έκαμεν εις τας γυναίκας συμπόσιον εν τω οίκω τω βασιλικώ του βασιλέως Ασσουήρου.
9 Asimismo la reina Vasthi hizo banquete de mujeres, en la casa real del rey Assuero.
9 Also Vashti the queen made a feast for the women in the royal house which belonged to King Ahasuerus.
10 Εν τη εβδόμη δε ημέρα, ότε η καρδία του βασιλέως ήτο εύθυμος εκ του οίνου, προσέταξε τον Μεουμάν, τον Βηζαθά, τον Αρβωνά, τον Βηγθά και Αβαγθά, τον Ζεθάρ και τον Χαρκάς, τους επτά ευνούχους τους υπηρετούντας ενώπιον του βασιλέως Ασσουήρου,
10 El séptimo día, estando el corazón del rey alegre del vino, mandó á Mehumán, y á Biztha, y á Harbona, y á Bigtha, y á Abagtha, y á Zetar, y á Carcas, siete eunucos que servían delante del rey Assuero,
10 On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, and Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcass, the seven eunuchs who served in the presence of Ahasuerus the king,
11 να φέρωσι την Αστίν την βασίλισσαν ενώπιον του βασιλέως, μετά του βασιλικού διαδήματος, διά να δείξη το κάλλος αυτής εις τους λαούς και εις τους άρχοντας· διότι ήτο ώραία την όψιν.
11 Que trajesen á la reina Vasthi delante del rey con la corona regia, para mostrar á los pueblos y á los príncipes su hermosura; porque era linda de aspecto.
11 to bring Vashti the queen before the king wearing the royal crown, to show the people and the princes her beauty; for she was beautiful.
12 Η βασίλισσα όμως Αστίν ηρνήθη να έλθη κατά την προσταγήν του βασιλέως, την διά των ευνούχων. Όθεν ο βασιλεύς εθυμώθη σφόδρα, και η οργή αυτού εξήφθη εν εαυτώ.
12 Mas la reina Vasthi no quiso comparecer á la orden del rey, [enviada] por mano de los eunucos; y enojóse el rey muy mucho, y encendióse en él su ira.
12 But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s commandment by the eunuchs. Therefore the king was very angry, and his anger burned in him.
13 Τότε είπεν ο βασιλεύς προς τους σοφούς, τους γνωρίζοντας τους καιρούς· διότι τοιαύτη ήτο η συνήθεια του βασιλέως προς πάντας τους γνωρίζοντας τον νόμον και την κρίσιν·
13 Preguntó entonces el rey á los sabios que sabían los tiempos, (porque así era la costumbre del rey para con todos los que sabían la ley y el derecho;
13 Then the king said to the wise men, who knew the times (for it was the king’s custom to consult those who knew law and judgment;
14 πλησίον δε αυτού ήτο ο Καρσένα, ο Σεθάρ, ο Αδμαθά, ο Θαρσείς, ο Μερές, ο Μαρσενά και ο Μεμουκάν, οι επτά άρχοντες της Περσίας και της Μηδίας, οίτινες έβλεπον το πρόσωπον του βασιλέως και είχον την προεδρίαν εν τω βασιλείω·
14 Y estaban junto á él, Carsena, y Sethar, y Admatha, y Tharsis, y Meres, y Marsena, y Memucán, siete príncipes de Persia y de Media que veían la cara del rey, y se sentaban los primeros del reino:)
14 and next to him were Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media, who saw the king’s face, and sat first in the kingdom),
15 Τι αρμόζει να κάμωμεν προς την βασίλισσαν Αστίν κατά τον νόμον, διότι δεν εξετέλεσε την διά των ευνούχων προσταγήν του βασιλέως Ασσουήρου;
15 Qué se había de hacer según la ley con la reina Vasthi, por cuanto no había cumplido la orden del rey Assuero, [enviada] por mano de los eunucos.
15 “What shall we do to Queen Vashti according to law, because she has not done the bidding of the King Ahasuerus by the eunuchs?”
16 Και απεκρίθη ο Μεμουκάν ενώπιον του βασιλέως και των αρχόντων, Η βασίλισσα Αστίν δεν ημάρτησε μόνον εις τον βασιλέα, αλλά και εις πάντας τους άρχοντας και εις πάντας τους λαούς τους εν πάσαις ταις επαρχίαις του βασιλέως Ασσουήρου·
16 Y dijo Memucán delante del rey y de los príncipes: No solamente contra el rey ha pecado la reina Vasthi, sino contra todos los príncipes, y contra todos los pueblos que hay en todas las provincias del rey Assuero.
16 Memucan answered before the king and the princes, “Vashti the queen has not done wrong to just the king, but also to all the princes, and to all the people who are in all the provinces of the King Ahasuerus.
17 διότι η πράξις της βασιλίσσης θέλει διαδοθή εις πάσας τας γυναίκας, ώστε θέλουσι καταφρονεί τους άνδρας αυτών έμπροσθεν των οφθαλμών αυτών, όταν διαφημισθή ότι ο βασιλεύς Ασσουήρης προσέταξε την βασίλισσαν Αστίν να φερθή ενώπιον αυτού, και δεν ήλθε·
17 Porque este hecho de la reina pasará á noticia de todas las mujeres, para hacerles tener en poca estima á sus maridos, diciendo: El rey Assuero mandó traer delante de sí á la reina Vasthi, y ella no vino.
17 For this deed of the queen will become known to all women, causing them to show contempt for their husbands when it is reported, ‘King Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she didn’t come.’
18 και την σήμερον αι δέσποιναι της Περσίας και της Μηδίας, όσαι ήκουσαν περί της πράξεως της βασιλίσσης, θέλουσι λαλήσει ούτω προς πάντας τους άρχοντας του βασιλέως· εντεύθεν μεγάλη περιφρόνησις και οργή·
18 Y entonces dirán [esto] las señoras de Persia y de Media que oyeren el hecho de la reina, á todos los príncipes del rey: y [habrá] mucho menosprecio y enojo.
18 Today, the princesses of Persia and Media who have heard of the queen’s deed will tell all the king’s princes. This will cause much contempt and wrath.
19 εάν λοιπόν ήναι αρεστόν εις τον βασιλέα, ας εξέλθη παρ' αυτού βασιλική διαταγή, και ας γραφή μεταξύ των νόμων των Περσών και των Μήδων, διά να ήναι αμετάθετος, να μη έλθη πλέον η Αστίν ενώπιον του βασιλέως Ασσουήρου· και ας δώση ο βασιλεύς την βασιλικήν αυτής αξίαν εις άλλην καλητέραν αυτής·
19 Si parece bien al rey, salga mandamiento real delante de él, y escríbase entre las leyes de Persia y de Media, y no sea traspasado: Que no venga más Vasthi delante del rey Assuero: y dé el rey su reino á su compañera que sea mejor que ella.
19 “If it pleases the king, let a royal commandment go from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, so that it cannot be altered, that Vashti may never again come before King Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal estate to another who is better than she.
20 και όταν το πρόσταγμα του βασιλέως, το οποίον θέλει κάμει, δημοσιευθή διά παντός του βασιλείου αυτού, διότι είναι μέγα, πάσαι αι γυναίκες θέλουσιν αποδίδει τιμήν εις τους άνδρας αυτών, από μεγάλου έως μικρού.
20 Y el mandamiento que hará el rey será oído en todo su reino, aunque es grande, y todas las mujeres darán honra á sus maridos, desde el mayor hasta el menor.
20 When the king’s decree which he shall make is published throughout all his kingdom (for it is great), all the wives will give their husbands honor, both great and small.”
21 Και ο λόγος ήρεσεν εις τον βασιλέα και εις τους άρχοντας· και έκαμεν ο βασιλεύς κατά τον λόγον του Μεμουκάν·
21 Y plugo esta palabra en ojos del rey y de los príncipes, é hizo el rey conforme al dicho de Memucán;
21 This advice pleased the king and the princes, and the king did according to the word of Memucan:
22 και έστειλε γράμματα εις πάσας τας επαρχίας του βασιλέως, εις εκάστην επαρχίαν κατά το γράφειν αυτής, και προς έκαστον λαόν κατά την γλώσσαν αυτού, να ήναι πας ανήρ κύριος εν τη οικία αυτού, και να λαλή κατά την γλώσσαν του λαού αυτού.
22 Pues envió letras á todas las provincias del rey, á cada provincia conforme á su escribir, y á cada pueblo conforme á su lenguaje, [diciendo] que todo hombre fuese señor en su casa; y háblese esto según la lengua de su pueblo.
22 for he sent letters into all the king’s provinces, into every province according to its writing, and to every people in their language, that every man should rule his own house, speaking in the language of his own people.
