1 El Señor me habló y dijo:
1 Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,
2 Hijo de hombre, ¿en qué supera la vid a cualquier árbol de ramas que hay en el bosque?
2 “Son of man, what is the vine tree more than any tree, the vine branch which is among the trees of the forest?
3 ¿Se usa su madera para algún trabajo? ¿Se hace con ella una estaca para colgar una vasija?
3 Will wood be taken of it to make anything? Will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel on it?
4 Se echa al fuego para quemarla. El fuego consume sus dos extremos y quema el centro. ¿Sirve entonces para algún trabajo?
4 Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire has devoured both its ends, and the middle of it is burned. Is it profitable for any work?
5 Si antes de cortarla no servía para nada, ¡cuánto menos servirá para hacer algo después de que el fuego la haya consumido y quemado!
5 Behold, when it was whole, it was suitable for no work. How much less, when the fire has devoured it, and it has been burned, will it yet be suitable for any work?”
6 Por eso el Señor ha dicho: Como la vid entre los árboles del bosque, que he entregado al fuego para quemarla, así entregaré a los habitantes de Jerusalén.
6 Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: “As the vine wood among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so I will give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
7 Me volveré contra ellos. Aunque hayan salido del fuego, el fuego los consumirá. Cuando me vuelva contra ellos, sabrán que yo soy el Señor.
7 I will set my face against them. They will go out from the fire, but the fire will still devour them. Then you will know that I am Yahweh, when I set my face against them.
8 Dejaré la tierra desierta porque han hecho el mal, dice el Señor.
8 I will make the land desolate, because they have acted unfaithfully,” says the Lord Yahweh.
