1 Y RESPONDIÓ Job, y dijo:
2 комꙋ̀ прилѣжи́ши, и҆лѝ комꙋ̀ хо́щеши помога́ти; не семꙋ́ ли, є҆мꙋ́же мно́га крѣ́пость и҆ є҆мꙋ́же мы́шца крѣпка̀ є҆́сть;
3 Комꙋ̀ совѣ́тъ да́лъ є҆сѝ; не є҆мꙋ́же ли всѧ̀ премꙋ́дрость; Кого̀ пожене́ши; не є҆мꙋ́же ли преве́лїѧ си́ла;
4 Комꙋ̀ возвѣсти́лъ є҆сѝ глаго́лы; дыха́нїе же чїе́ є҆сть и҆сходѧ́щее и҆з̾ тебє̀;
5 Є҆да̀ и҆споли́ни родѧ́тсѧ под̾ водо́ю и҆ сосѣ́дми є҆ѧ̀;
14 Сѐ, сїѧ̑ ча̑сти пꙋтѝ є҆гѡ̀: и҆ ѡ҆ ка́пли сло́ва ᲂу҆слы́шимъ въ не́мъ: си́лꙋ же гро́ма є҆гѡ̀ кто̀ ᲂу҆вѣ́да, когда̀ сотвори́тъ;

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).
