LXX Brenton's Greek Septuagint
RV1909 Reina-Valera 1909
1 Y RESPONDIÓ Job, y dijo:
2 Τίνι πρόσκεισαι, ἢ τίνι μέλλεις βοηθεῖν; πότερον οὐχ ᾧ πολλὴ ἰσχὺς, καὶ ᾧ βραχίων κραταιός ἐστι;
3 Τίνι συμβεβούλευσαι; οὐχ ᾧ πᾶσα σοφία; τίνι ἐπακολουθήσεις; οὐχ ᾧ μεγίστη δύναμις;
4 Τίνι ἀνήγγειλας ῥήματα; πνοὴ δὲ τίνος ἐστὶν ἡ ἐξελθοῦσα ἐκ σοῦ;
5 Μὴ γίγαντες μαιωθήσονται ὑποκάτωθεν ὕδατος καὶ τῶν γειτόνων αὐτοῦ;
14 Ἰδοῦ ταῦτα μέρη ὁδοῦ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐπὶ ἰκμάδα λόγου ἀκουσόμεθα ἐν αὐτῷ· σθενὸς δὲ βροντῆς αὐτοῦ, τίς οἶδεν ὁπότε ποιήσει;

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).
