1 Εἶδον τὸν Κύριον ἐφεστῶτα ἐπὶ τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου, καὶ εἶπε, Πάταξον ἐπὶ τὸ ἱλαστήριον, καὶ σεισθήσεται τὰ πρόπυλα, καὶ διάκοψον εἰς κεφαλὰς πάντων· καὶ τοὺς καταλοίπους αὐτῶν ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ ἀποκτενῶ, οὐ μὴ διαφύγῃ ἐξ αὐτῶν φεύγων, καὶ οὐ μὴ διασωθῇ ἐξ αὐτῶν ἀνασωζόμενος.
1 VI al Señor que estaba sobre el altar, y dijo: Hiere el umbral, y estremézcanse las puertas: y córtales en piezas la cabeza de todos; y el postrero de ellos mataré á cuchillo: no habrá de ellos quien se fugue, ni quien escape.
1 I saw the Lord standing beside the altar, and he said, “Strike the tops of the pillars, that the thresholds may shake. Break them in pieces on the head of all of them. I will kill the last of them with the sword. Not one of them will flee away. Not one of them will escape.
2 Ἐὰν κατακρυβῶσιν εἰς ᾅδου, ἐκεῖθεν ἡ χείρ μου ἀνασπάσει αὐτούς· καὶ ἐὰν ἀναβῶσιν εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν, ἐκεῖθεν κατάξω αὐτούς.
2 Aunque cavasen hasta el infierno, de allá los tomará mi mano; y si subieren hasta el cielo, de allá los haré descender.
2 Though they dig into Sheol, there my hand will take them; and though they climb up to heaven, there I will bring them down.
3 Ἐὰν ἐγκατακρυβῶσιν εἰς τὴν κορυφὴν τοῦ Καρμήλου, ἐκεῖθεν ἐξερευνήσω, καὶ λήψομαι αὐτούς· καὶ ἐὰν καταδύσωσιν ἐξ ὀφθαλμῶν μου εἰς τὰ βάθη τῆς θαλάσσης, ἐκεῖ ἐντελοῦμαι τῷ δράκοντι, καὶ δήξεται αὐτούς.
3 Y si se escondieren en la cumbre del Carmelo, allí los buscaré y los tomaré; y aunque se escondieren de delante de mis ojos en el profundo de la mar, allí mandaré á la culebra, y morderálos.
3 Though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out from there; and though they be hidden from my sight in the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent, and it will bite them.
4 Καὶ ἐὰν πορευθῶσιν ἐν αἰχμαλωσίᾳ πρὸ προσώπου τῶν ἐχθρῶν αὐτῶν, ἐκεῖ ἐντελοῦμαι τῇ ῥομφαίᾳ, καὶ ἀποκτενεῖ αὐτούς· καὶ στηριῶ τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς μου ἐπʼ αὐτοὺς εἰς κακὰ, καὶ οὐκ εἰς ἀγαθά.
4 Y si fueren en cautiverio, delante de sus enemigos, allí mandaré al cuchillo, y los matará; y pondré sobre ellos mis ojos para mal, y no para bien.
4 Though they go into captivity before their enemies, there I will command the sword, and it will kill them. I will set my eyes on them for evil, and not for good.
5 Καὶ Κύριος Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς ὁ παντοκράτωρ, ὁ ἐφαπτόμενος τῆς γῆς, καὶ σαλεύων αὐτὴν, καὶ πενθήσουσι πάντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες αὐτὴν, καὶ ἀναβήσεται ὡς ποταμὸς συντέλεια αὐτῆς, καὶ καταβήσεται ὡς ποταμὸς Αἰγύπτου·
5 El Señor Jehová de los ejércitos [es] el que toca la tierra, y se derretirá, y llorarán todos los que en ella moran: y subirá toda como un río, y hundiráse luego como el río de Egipto.
5 For the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, is he who touches the land and it melts, and all who dwell in it will mourn; and it will rise up wholly like the River, and will sink again, like the River of Egypt.
6 Ὁ οἰκοδομῶν εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν ἀνάβασιν αὐτοῦ, καὶ τὴν ἐπαγγελίαν αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς θεμελιῶν, ὁ προσκαλούμενος τὸ ὕδωρ τῆς θαλάσσης, καὶ ἐκχέων αὐτὸ ἐπὶ πρόσωπον τῆς γῆς· Κύριος παντοκράτωρ ὄνομα αὐτῷ.
6 El edificó en el cielo sus gradas, y ha establecido su expansión sobre la tierra: él llama las aguas de la mar, y sobre la haz de la tierra las derrama: Jehová es su nombre.
6 It is he who builds his rooms in the heavens, and has founded his vault on the earth; he who calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out on the surface of the earth—Yahweh is his name.
7 Οὐχ ὡς υἱοὶ Αἰθιόπων ὑμεῖς ἐστὲ ἐμοὶ, υἱοὶ Ἰσραὴλ; λέγει Κύριος· οὐ τὸν Ἰσραὴλ ἀνήγαγον ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου, καὶ τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους ἐκ Καππαδοκίας, καὶ τοὺς Σύρους ἐκ βόθρου;
7 Hijos de Israel, ¿no me sois vosotros, dice Jehová, como hijos de Etiopes? ¿no hice yo subir á Israel de la tierra de Egipto, y á los Palestinos de Caphtor, y de Chîr á los Arameos?
7 Are you not like the children of the Ethiopians to me, children of Israel?” says Yahweh. “Haven’t I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt, and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir?
8 Ἰδοὺ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν βασιλείαν τῶν ἁμαρτωλῶν, καὶ ἐξαρῶ αὐτὴν ἀπὸ προσώπου τῆς γῆς· πλὴν ὅτι οὐκ εἰς τέλος ἐξαρῶ τὸν οἶκον Ἰακὼβ, λέγει Κύριος.
8 He aquí los ojos del Señor Jehová están contra el reino pecador, y yo lo asolaré de la haz de la tierra: mas no destruiré del todo la casa de Jacob, dice Jehová.
8 Behold, the eyes of the Lord Yahweh are on the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the surface of the earth, except that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,” says Yahweh.
9 Διότι ἐγὼ ἐντέλλομαι, καὶ λικμήσω ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς ἔθνεσι τὸν οἶκον Ἰσραὴλ, ὃν τρόπον λικμᾶται ἐν τῷ λικμῷ, καὶ οὐ μὴ πέσῃ σύντριμμα ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν.
9 Porque he aquí yo mandaré, y haré que la casa de Israel sea zarandeada entre todas las gentes, como se zarandea [el grano] en un harnero, y no cae un granito en la tierra.
9 “For behold, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all the nations as grain is sifted in a sieve, yet not the least kernel will fall on the earth.
10 Ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ τελευτήσουσι πάντες ἁμαρτωλοὶ λαοῦ μου, οἱ λέγοντες, οὐ μὴ ἐγγίσῃ, οὐδὲ μὴ γένηται ἐφʼ ἡμᾶς τὰ κακά.
10 A cuchillo morirán todos los pecadores de mi pueblo, que dicen: No se acercará, ni nos alcanzará el mal.
10 All the sinners of my people will die by the sword, who say, ‘Evil won’t overtake nor meet us.’
11◆ Ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἀναστήσω τὴν σκηνὴν Δαυὶδ τὴν πεπτωκυῖαν, καὶ ἀνοικοδομήσω τὰ πεπτωκότα αὐτῆς, καὶ τὰ κατεσκαμμένα αὐτῆς ἀναστήσω, καὶ ἀνοικοδομήσω αὐτὴν καθὼς αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ αἰῶνος.
11 En aquel día yo levantaré el tabernáculo de David, caído, y cerraré sus portillos, y levantaré sus ruinas, y edificarélo como en el tiempo pasado;
11 In that day I will raise up the tent of David who is fallen and close up its breaches, and I will raise up its ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old,
12◆ Ὅπως ἐκζητήσωσιν οἱ κατάλοιποι τῶν ἀνθρώπων καὶ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη, ἐφʼ οὓς ἐπικέκληται τὸ ὄνομά μου ἐπʼ αὐτοὺς, λέγει Κύριος ὁ ποιῶν πάντα ταῦτα.
12 Para que aquellos sobre los cuales es llamado mi nombre, posean el resto de Idumea, y á todas las naciones, dice Jehová que hace esto.
12 that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations who are called by my name,” says Yahweh who does this.
13 Ἰδοὺ ἡμέραι ἔρχονται, λέγει Κύριος, καὶ καταλήψεται ὁ ἀμητὸς τὸν τρυγητὸν, καὶ περκάσει ἡ σταφυλὴ ἐν τῷ σπόρῳ, καὶ ἀποσταλάξει τὰ ὄρη γλυκασμὸν, καὶ πάντες οἱ βουνοὶ σύμφυτοι ἔσονται.
13 He aquí vienen días, dice Jehová, en que el que ara alcanzará al segador, y el pisador de las uvas al que lleva la simiente; y los montes destilarán mosto, y todos los collados se derretirán.
13 “Behold, the days come,” says Yahweh, “that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the one treading grapes him who sows seed; and sweet wine will drip from the mountains, and flow from the hills.
14 Καὶ ἐπιστρέψω τὴν αἰχμαλωσίαν τοῦ λαοῦ μου Ἰσραὴλ, καὶ οἰκοδομήσουσι πόλεις τὰς ἠφανισμένας, καὶ κατοικήσουσι, καὶ φυτεύσουσιν ἀμπελῶνας, καὶ πίονται τὸν οἶνον αὐτῶν, καὶ ποιήσουσι κήπους, καὶ φάγονται τὸν καρπὸν αὐτῶν·
14 Y tornaré el cautiverio de mi pueblo Israel, y edificarán ellos las ciudades asoladas, y las habitarán; y plantarán viñas, y beberán el vino de ellas; y harán huertos, y comerán el fruto de ellos.
14 I will bring my people Israel back from captivity, and they will rebuild the ruined cities, and inhabit them; and they will plant vineyards, and drink wine from them. They shall also make gardens, and eat their fruit.
15 Καὶ καταφυτεύσω αὐτοὺς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς αὐτῶν, καὶ οὐ μὴ ἐκσπασθῶσιν οὐκέτι ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς, ἧς ἔδωκα αὐτοῖς, λέγει Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς παντοκράτωρ.
15 Pues los plantaré sobre su tierra, y nunca más serán arrancados de su tierra que yo les dí, ha dicho Jehová Dios tuyo.
15 I will plant them on their land, and they will no more be plucked up out of their land which I have given them,” says Yahweh your God.

Why does my Bible say something different?
- Amos 9:12 and Acts 15:17: “the remnant of Edom” or “the rest of mankind”?
In the Hebrew text of Amos 9:12, restored Israel will “possess the remnant of Edom.” In the Septuagint, “the remnant of men” will “seek” the Lord. At the Council of Jerusalem St James quotes the Greek form to show that God intended Gentiles to belong to his people (Acts 15:16–17). The two readings differ by letters that look and sound alike in Hebrew.

There is a certain proud serpent in the sea, of which another passage of Scripture speaks, "I will command the serpent, and he shall bite him;" and again, "There is that Leviathan, whom Thou hast made to mock him," whose head He bruises above the water.
