ONBV Biblica Open New Living Bible (Nueva Biblia Viva 2008)
WEB World English Bible (Classic, with Deuterocanon)
1 Al director musical. Salmo de David. Acompáñese con instrumentos de cuerda. De David. ¡Oh Dios, escucha mi clamor! ¡Atiende a mi plegaria!
1 For the Chief Musician. For a stringed instrument. By David. Hear my cry, God. Listen to my prayer.
2 Desde los confines de la tierra, clamo a ti pidiendo auxilio pues mi corazón desfallece; llévame a una roca donde esté yo a salvo.
2 From the end of the earth, I will call to you when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
3 Porque tú eres mi refugio, alta torre en donde mis enemigos jamás podrán tocarme.
3 For you have been a refuge for me, a strong tower from the enemy.
4 Por siempre moraré en tu santuario. ¡Seguro bajo el amparo de tus alas!
4 I will dwell in your tent forever. I will take refuge in the shelter of your wings. Selah.
5 Porque tú has escuchado mis votos, Dios, y me has dado la bendición que guardas para quienes temen tu nombre.
5 For you, God, have heard my vows. You have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.
6 Añade más años a la vida del rey; que sus años se extiendan de generación en generación.
6 You will prolong the king’s life. His years will be for generations.
7 Que reine para siempre bajo tu protección. Que tu amor y fidelidad lo protejan.
7 He shall be enthroned in God’s presence forever. Appoint your loving kindness and truth, that they may preserve him.
8 Así cantaré siempre alabanzas a tu nombre; con lo que cumpliré mis votos cada día.
8 So I will sing praise to your name forever, that I may fulfill my vows daily.

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).

  1. Commentary Augustine of Hippo, Expositions on the Psalms (Psalm LX)

David the king was one man, but not one man he figured; sometimes to wit he figured the Church of many men consisting, extended even unto the ends of the earth: but sometimes One Man he figured, Him he figured that is Mediator of God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.
