1 PUES que Cristo ha padecido por nosotros en la carne, vosotros también estad armados del mismo pensamiento: que el que ha padecido en la carne, cesó de pecado;
Budite dakle mudri i trezni u molitvama.
8 A pre svega imajte neprestanu ljubav među sobom; jer ljubav pokriva mnoštvo greha,
9 budite gostoljubivi među sobom bez mrmljanja;
12 Ljubazni! Ne čudite se vrućini koja vam se događa za kušanje vaše, kao da vam se šta novo događa;
12 Carísimos, no os maravilléis cuando sois examinados por fuego, lo cual se hace para vuestra prueba, como si alguna cosa peregrina os aconteciese;
15 Samo da ne postrada koji od vas kao krvnik, ili kao lupež, ili kao zločinac, ili kao onaj koji se meša u tuđe poslove;
18 I kad se pravednik jedva spase, bezbožnik i grešnik gde će se javiti?

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).
