1 The elder to the electe lady and her chyldren which I love in the trueth: and not I only but also all that have knowe the trueth
1 EL anciano á la señora elegida y á sus hijos, á los cuales yo amo en verdad; y no yo solo, sino también todos los que han conocido la verdad,
2 for the truthes sake which dwelleth in vs and shalbe in vs for ever.
2 Por la verdad que está en nosotros, y será perpetuamente con nosotros:
3 With you be grace mercy and peace from God the father and from the Lorde Iesus Christ the sonne of the father in trueth and love.
3 Sea con vosotros gracia, misericordia, y paz de Dios Padre, y del Señor Jesucristo, Hijo del Padre, en verdad y en amor.
4 I reioysed greatly that I founde of thy chyldre walkinge in trouth as we have receaved a commaundement of the father.
4 Mucho me he gozado, porque he hallado de tus hijos, que andan en verdad, como nosotros hemos recibido el mandamiento del Padre.
5 And nowe beseche I the lady not as though I wrote a newe commaundement vnto the but that same which we had from the begynninge that we shuld love one another.
5 Y ahora te ruego, señora, no como escribiéndote un nuevo mandamiento, sino aquel que nosotros hemos tenido desde el principio, que nos amemos unos á otros.
6 And this is the love that we shulde walke after his commaundementes. This commaundement is (that as ye have hearde from the begynninge) ye shuld walke in it.
6 Y este es amor, que andemos según sus mandamientos. Este es el mandamiento: Que andéis en él, como vosotros habéis oído desde el principio.
7 For many deceavers are entred in to the worlde which confesse not that Iesus Christ is come in the flesshe. This is a deceaver and an Antichrist.
7 Porque muchos engañadores son entrados en el mundo, los cuales no confiesan que Jesucristo ha venido en carne. Este tal el engañador es, y el anticristo.
8 Loke on youre selves that we loose not that we have wrought: but that we maye have a full rewarde.
8 Mirad por vosotros mismos, porque no perdamos las cosas que hemos obrado, sino que recibamos galardón cumplido.
9 Whosoever transgresseth and bydeth not in the doctrine of Christ hath not God. He that endureth in the doctrine of Christ hath bothe the father and the sonne.
9 Cualquiera que se rebela, y no persevera en la doctrina de Cristo, no tiene á Dios: el que persevera en la doctrina de Cristo, el tal tiene al Padre y al Hijo.
10 Yf ther come eny vnto you and bringe not this learninge him receave not to housse: nether bid him God spede.
10 Si alguno viene á vosotros, y no trae esta doctrina, no lo recibáis en casa, ni le digáis: ¡bienvenido!
11 For he that biddeth him God spede is parttaker of his evyll dedes.
11 Porque el que le dice bienvenido, comunica con sus malas obras.
12 I had many thinges to wryte vnto you neverthelesse I wolde not wryte with paper and ynke: but I trust to come vnto you and speake with you mouth to mouth that oure ioye maye be full.
12 Aunque tengo muchas cosas que escribiros, no he querido [comunicarlas] por medio de papel y tinta; mas espero ir á vosotros, y hablar boca á boca, para que nuestro gozo sea cumplido.
13 The sonnes of thy electe syster grete the. Amen.
13 Los hijos de tu hermana elegida te saludan. Amén.
